Easy to install. Works great! More stability!
15' Bassboat with 60hp Merc. - Got up on plane must faster and at less throttle. Also could get down to 18mph and still stay on plane. No cavitation on holeshot. Did lose about 3mph on top end. I used the no drill bolt on option but can be installed permanent. Took it out ran it approx 30 minutes boat started to drift to the right had to countersteer to keep it straight and got back to the dock. Bolts had backed out and it was no longer straight. Its says use loctite that is included but there was no tube of locktite in my package. Went out and bought loctite and fixed the problem. Does as advertised and pleased overall. Have a Attwood (also from Walmart) that is Gullwing design with the tips raising out of the water once on plane. Will install it it and compare.
Mounted this on a 150hp Mercury outboard on my 18 foot SeaRay this works and get my boat on plane much quicker and runs on plane at much lower RPMs then before installation. I used the no drilling installation this was very easy and has held after two outing
The hydrofoil works fine. However the mounting screws could damage the cavitation plate if not torqued properly, especially if over-torqued. The mounting arrangement needs some improvement.
Noticed a small dofference in planing out, havent noticed much difference in fuel economy, but didnt help the porpoiseing effect at all. Was simple to install, i personally used the supplied bolts and drilled my lower unit ao it couldnt fall off in the water. Didnt trust set screws alone.
I have a 2014, 70hp Yamaha outboard and this hydrofoil does not fit it, its too large. The two set screws do not extend enough to clamp onto the anti cavitation plate. If I had done what the instructions said I would have lost it in the water the only thing holding it on my engine was a thin plastic piece that was be held on by the torque tab. The only reason I give it 2 stars is because it felt like a sturdy product.
It's at the bottom of the Lake, lasted about 2 times out. I was getting ready to go out to the lake with my brother. He said " you need to get a hydrofoil". I said, "I got one". He said no you don't. I looked back at the motor and it was not there. I don't know when it fell off. I hadn't even noticed it was gone. It worked great, but it fell off, that's why it gets a 2 star.
I attached this on my Yamaha 200 HP. It worked for a season and then on trip on Lake of Woods it came off. I called StingRay and rep told me there were some problems with the model being attached with set screws and they would replace it if I sent in picture of package as I no longer had receipt. I texted in picture and it bounced. I emailed customer service and Jon then told me, no, to send in the item and needed a receipt. I said it came off but here is a picture of the package and don't have receipt. He said--no receipt no help. So I gave up and bought a different unit from another company. Not happy with StingRay customer service.
