I'm all about quick and easy, and delicious. If you like chicken, cheese, bacon bits, macaroni combined in a creamy ranch flavored sauce, this is a meal for you. Just bake in the oven per directions fix a salad or a vegetable and you've got supper ready. Another favorite from Marketside.
My prep %26 cooking times have decreased greatly since I started buying the Marketside fresh prepared meals, appetizers %26 fresh meats. If you haven't tried any of these items, you're definitely missing out. Every one I've bought has tasted great, major time saver %26 better value than buying unprepared items. Please check out all that Walmart has to offer with their Marketside line of food.
Overall I enjoyed this. The quantity was more than I expected and I wound up sharing it with my wife and son as a result. We thought it was tasty and sufficient as a main course for 3 adults. But like many products aimed at the the general population, it could have used a little more pizzaz. And by that I mean adding some additional flavor depth via more southwestern spiciness of perhaps some barbecue sauce or other compatible flavoring that fits your tastes. In that sense it serves as a good base for a small family meal that you tailor to your taste. None of the included tastes disallowed customizing it in a few different directions as it was good plain and the room for improvement is just a personal taste choice.
We ended up with so many pieces of bacon and chicken that were fatty and chewy, the pasta and sauce were good (after we added seasoning) but we definitely won't purchase this again. (We both wanted it to be good, we ended up eating a sandwich afterwards)
The taste of this meal was not very tasty. Not sure which of the added ingredients was the bad one for me. My husband said when he started to eat was this taste pretty good but by the fourth or fifth bite he stated , " no this stuff has a weird taste" and he stopped eating this dish and we ended up throwing it away. Real waste of money.
The chicken was shredded and soft (you could mash it together). I even went so far as to: Pour a can of enchilada sauce on top and sprinkle diced green onions and Mexican cheese on top prior, to cooking. Aside from the toppings, the meal was tasteless. Tossed the meal and just grabbed a beer.
Not bad for a decent meal when you're feeling too lazy to cook for yourself. However, be prepared to spend twice the amount of time cooking the meal than what is recommended on the instructions. All of the MarketSide meals have to be cooked at least twice as long as the recommended time. Why? Idk. I think the recommended time is for an unthawed product, but the package says keep frozen. I keep mine frozen until I'm ready to cook it. Therefore, this meal took over an hour to cook all the way through.
