I don't eat meat and made this for my dogs. I didn't know how to cook it -- it was thick and done one the outside but only like 100 degrees in the middle. is this right, is it safe to eat? I didn't find the directions super helpful. I think I overcooked it.
We buy these steaks every week and I have been very happy with one with them. Most recently we got one that was not good. It had a lot of gristle in it. I have tried to get you guys to credit it back, but I can't go through the standard refunds with it because we cooked it and then had to get the grass gristle out and we lost most of the steak with that so I would like a refund on that. It was $8.28
I decided to try this as I love grass, fed meat, etc. it was not truly the taste of a filet mignon in my opinion however, it was more like a tenderloin roast. It had excellent flavor, not a lot of fat and cooked beautifully. I would buy it in the future, but not as a filet mignon, but more as a tenderloin style roast…. I'm going to try Walmart filet mignon's next time to compare.
Disgusting! Gristle! 4 major peices/strings of gristle in this 0.6 lb chunk of meat. Smell! I doubled checked date - use by date 12 days out so fine. Yuck. My dogs got a few bites I could cut and the pile of gristle went in the trash. Filet mignon? Nope! This was a substitution of puck up order for Angus filet mignon, something I've had 5 times without any issues.
This is not what I ordered and I did not ask for substitutions you sent me two small steaks individually wrapped one of them says filet mignon. The other one says sirloin. My teeth are so bad that I can't chew the sirloin, but I think the filet mignon will work for me. What should I do with the top sirloin? Will you give me my money back on that please respond.
PLEASE BE AWARE THAT ALTHOUGH THE PICTURED ITEM SEEMS TO BE OF NORMAL MEAT TRAY SIZE, IT HONESTLY FITS IN THE PALM OF MY HAND! MY TWO STEAKS OF SAME PRICE %26 SUPPOSEDLY SAME WEIGHT WAS SUBSTITUTED FOR THIS MORE EXPENSIVE ITEM!! I HAVE NOT COOKED IT %26:SURE IT WILL TASTE OKAY, BUT THERES NO EXCUSE FOR VLATANT MISLEADINGS!!
this was butt end of tender with tail still attached so very hard to cut correctly. found piece of connective tissue attached, so not peeled correctly. It had little flavor %26 was tough, so producer, processor, marketing-(you b call this fillet migon?) %26 buyer all failed with this product, Meanwhile we customers lay out a lot of money for this
These steaks were a substitute for the original filet mignon steaks I get and I thought because they were grass fed that they would be better. BOY WAS I WRONG. They were WORSE. They were nothing but fat and connective tissue. One of them was literally 90% fat and connective tissue. The whole reason I get filet mignon is for the lack of fat and connective tissue because it quite literally makes me gag. So imagine my disappointment when trying to cut and struggling then trying to get SOME meat off and it's just mostly connective tissue. I ended up picking off what I could like an animal and then threw away the rest disgusted. WASTE OF MONEY! Quality is NOT a guarantee.
Worst Filet mignon I have ever tasted or cooked. It does not taste like real beef. Not sure what it is but taste is not normal for a beef mignon. It had a divide when came out the package, with a skin on it. Looked more like a large kidney divide. It tasted a backwash of kidney meat. Also while cooking it 'balls' up into a round shape. When full cooked medium well, it is stringy and didn't behave like ones I have gotten from the butcher shop, only one left in the city. But costs is high for such a bad experience I had to put in the garbage. Would not recommend spending any money on such a bad cut. I tried this last year from same store, same experience. Worst meat cut walmart offers. NEVER BUY AGAIN.
