I was pleasantly surprised by this rib eye steak! I was first struck by how well marbled the cut was. I towel dried and then salted the steak 30 minutes before I pan-seared it for 4 minutes per side. I was rewarded with a very tender and tasty steak cooked to a heavenly perfection.
Wow. I haven’t had a ribeye in years simply because it just cost too much. But it was a special occasion so I indulged. I didn’t marinade because the meat was known for its tenderness. I poked it with a fork to let the McCormicks Montreal steak seasoning get in. Cooked it on a grill until medium plated roasted Brussels sprouts and baked potato. Hard for that meal to be bad but…the steak was hard to cut through with a serrated knife, there was no pink just from grill to plate it was much thinner that what we started out with. I will stick with the butcher from now on and get a proper cut of ribeye since it’s so pricey anyway.
This steak was unedible!!!! Extremely tough, hard to chew and lots of gristle. Other then the flavor, there was nothing good about it. The last steak I bought like this, it just melted in yout mouth. One reaon why i bought it again. Deliciousness in every bite, NOT this one. I was extremly disapppinted!!
I normally don’t have issues with the ribeye steaks I get from Walmart however this one I got today I just don’t know what’s wrong with it. First of all it’s very small only .63 lbs. Secondly, there’s minimal marbling (which is what makes the ribeyes taste awesome) so I’m not even sure that it’s a ribeye. Very unhappy with this. I will text a picture below look at that and look at the one in Walmart. You’ll see the difference I’m talking about.
Here you go—short, sharp, and brutal: This Walmart ribeye was a complete joke. Incredibly tough, riddled with thick, rubbery veins that made half of it straight-up inedible. Every bite was a reminder that this cut should never have passed inspection. A ribeye is supposed to be rich and tender—this was chewy, gristly misery. Save your money and your jaw.
I’m not sure if this is a true ribeye or a cut of a a cut of chuck roast but it had little to no marbling and was falling apart well before cooking. It also had an odd smell although it was cooked a week before its Best Buy date and within a couple days of purchase
This was the WORSE Ribeye I’ve ever had. It was a substitute of what I ordered. Walmart should remove this from their steak selection. I seasoned the meat and cooked it for 3 minutes on each side. The inside was beautifully cooked. When it came time to eat cutting it was difficult chewing was impossible. I spent $13 for a steak that was thrown away it was so bad I didn’t give it to my dog. SMH
I believe I just got a bad package not in the sense of spoiled but it is all fat. There is not even enough beef to equal a child’s size burger in this serving I ordered online and I am usually happy with everything that is chosen for me. Unfortunately this was a miss. I would try again as I said this was an unusual disappointment.
Very little fat, not tender, but a whole lot of gristle. Worst ribeye I’ve ever bought. I’ve never come on here to leave a review for anything good or bad. But this steak was so bad I grabbed my phone and made it a point too. Tiny cut of meat for the price too. Booooo do better!
Worst meat I’ve ever had from Walmart for a ribeye. I’ll stick my my usual tomahawk steak or thick cut ribeyes. I had no idea this was going to be so thin and so tough. If I wanted to cook a tough steak I would have bought something besides a ribeye.
