I do love the taste of goat cheese: crumbled in any kind of salad, greens or pasta, on crackers, on toast, what ever I can think of. I never call it Chevre (french for Goat) but good to know. I have never tried aged goat cheese, I like the fresh spreadable kind.
I liked the lower price and smaller commitment of this 4 oz package. It is not an easy cheese to spread but you can just cut off one end of the tube and scoop it out with a spreader knife. I have not bought goat cheese for decades but this was the right one for me. I put the half used package in a small ziplock bag that keeps it from drying out.
This is a good price and tastes as good as other brands that cost more. I like to add a little bit of honey to it. For anyone who hadn't ever eaten goat cheese, it is not like cow's cheese so don't expect it to be similar. I have severe sensitivity to cow cheese so this gives me something to get some other vitamins/minerals from.
This was delicious and I used it on salads and also made a mushroom artichoke quesadilla and used this goat cheese mixed with rosemary for the cheese. It was devine!!!
My roommate love this. I got it for him because he was just in a goat cheese mood. My roommate love this. I got it for him because he was just in a goat cheese mood.
Perfect for a salad or appetizer definitely softer the first day and a little bit crumbly the next day!
I'm happy with the quality and the great price. Good alone, spread on sourdough, or mixed into mashed potatoes and garlic!
I had never tried goat cheese before, but I was pleased with this product. Good to spread on bread, or a rice cake, or crackers. It's a little thicker than most cream cheese. The taste is slightly sour, like a good sour cream. (Daisy sour cream, which is my usual choice, is hardly sour at all. I don't know why. Maybe I'm old enough to remember going to a restaurant, and the sour cream on my potato was actually a bit sour.) My only real complaint is with the packaging -- a soft plastic, making it difficult to scrape all the cheese out. Frankly, a small hard plastic tub would be better, in my opinion. The cheese itself, I like and will continue to buy.
Texture and flavor are passable though a bit chalky. More difficult to crumble over foods. Not as high quality as Vermont Creamery Goat Cheese.
This cheese has a vinegary taste with quite a bite. Not mild at all like Roth Chevre. Would not buy this again.
