I have good luck in purchasing produce through the Walmart program. There are times, however, when there are "misses" in the quality...but, it doesn't happen very often. No problem! Walmart will take care of the problem by replacing it or giving a quick refund immediately. GREAT
In my opinion, this is the way to go for making salads for one person. Buying a whole head of lettuce always leads to waste for me, but this package guarantees no waste. The blend has always satisfied me with its crispness and crunch. Having a bag of this in the fridge makes it easy and quick for me to snack on healthy food. It is all pre-cut, so I can always grab a little bit to garnish my chicken sandwich.
This can be a good product, if you're shopping for yourself. But too often if you're doing an online grocery pickup, this is one of those items that seems to be used to get rid of older items for the pickup people. If you get one that's fresh, they're good. Great for a quick salad at home. But as often as not you end up with one that's not fresh, dark, slimy. So I no longer pick this as an item if I'm doing an online grocery pickup.
Apparently, these are no longer coming in airtight packages, and therefore they are not lasting until their expiration date. The last 3 to 4 packages I've ordered are filled with air and only stay fresh for about 24 hours upon opening and then turn brown. Which is why I gave it three stars because when it's fresh, it's good but I do not eat a full bag in one day and like to split it up over my work week.
I have ordered this mix many times. The freshness is really hit %26 miss. Admitedly, I got it viapick up, so I didn't select the bag. That said, I opened the bag a day after the purchase. Much of the lettuce was soft or brown. There were days left before experation. Considering the cost, I really feel like this shouldn't happen so often. The mix is good when I get a fresh bag.
It would be better if the shoppers would pay more attention to dates and the over all appearance of the produce! Very tired of getting any produce that is brown or just plain not appealing to look at! Can’t trust the shoppers so just been making the trip into the store to purchase my produce!
I have ordered this items several times. I always hold my breath. This has been terrific, until this order. This bag of lettuce cannot be eaten and was thrown in the trash. It was obviously quite old. The lettuce was willted, full of rust -absolutely rotten. I was a buyer in a grocery store - this produce wouldn't have left the backroom. I understand the "FIFO" rule, but this should never have on my order. I would prefer that they skip if there is no fresh produce.
Ive tried ordering this salad mix a couple times with my grocery orders. Its nwver vacuum sealed, and lettuce is rusted, and/or wilted. Even when i have bought it in the store, I spend most of my shopping time looking through to find one that is worth buying. Walmart is a grocery store not a Misfits market...groceries should be fresh!
I eat salad nearly everyday so usually there is no time for it to go bad. However, quite often when I buy this particular salad mix in the store it is already turning bad and getting rusty. Lately even though the best by date is days or a week away. Also DO NOT order ANY salad mix for delivery with Walmart if you can't eat it straightaway, because they ALWAYS send a bag that either expires the day you receive it or within the next day or 2.
The Marketside salad mix was delivered to me in bad shape. When I opened the bag the lettuce was brown and smelled bad. When I requested a refund, I was told I'd have to bring it to the Walmart store, which is 20 miles away. It would cost more than it was worth to drive over there to return a rotten bag of lettuce. I tried calling and texting customer service, but no one answered the phone. I won't be buying Walmart produce from now on.
