This is the best sourdough bread I've had in ages and I've even ordered very expensive bread from San Francisco. That's supposed to be the original and paid an outrageous price and it didn't touch this spray. The only problem is they're always out of it and I can't count on it. If I can't bake it though I just toast it and it's just as good
I had purchased name brand sourdough bread priced much higher that had very little sourdough taste. I thought I would give Market place bakery bread and was pleasantly surprised. Excellent sourdough taste, texture and crunchy crust. Makes excellent sub sandwiches.
I was pleasantly surprised. This sourdough loaf exceeded my expectations. Reheat and bake according to package instructions. Mine I cooked a bit longer because I like it crispy on the outside. The inside is soft and moist with sourdough's trademark air bubble pockets. This is my second loaf and I froze it for later use. Just thaw at room temperature for an hour. Once it's no longer frozen, bake according to package instructions. The loaves are perfect for 2-3-4 submarine sandwiches depending on how big you like them. Served warm and sliced, it compliments your dinner with a little butter.
For the price this can't be beat. Taste is good,. Inside texture is great. The only thing I wish is that is had a more rustic outside texture. I find the sort of crunchy texture a bit more satisfying. However, the rustic loaves are twice as expensive. My compromise fix is to make sure the bread is well toasted. I imagine that the bakery inside walmart can't do a rustic loaf. This is unfortunate. They do have several rustic brands and if the price is no object get the rustic loaf. On the other hand if you like the texture of a standard french or Italian loaf then this sourdough loaf is perfect for you.
First time I tried sourdough bread was at restaurant and I liked it. When I saw this, thought I would give it a try. Instructions gave bake times for both frozen and unfrozen loaves. I chose to make it from an unfrozen state. Took only a few minutes. I was not disappointed.
This was delicious!! It tasted perfectly fresh and homemade after it baked. If you're looking for bread to have in the freezer to pull out for dinner or spur of the moment guests, this would be perfect. It only took 40 minutes to thaw before baking and it was just as crisp and delicious from having it frozen. I'll definitely buy this again!
Do you ever crave a sub from your favorite sandwich shop, but it's closed or to far away? This loaf makes a great sub %26 you can make it just the way you like it and just how small or large you want to! make a 6" veggie sub with your favorite Vinaigrette or pile it high with your fav meats %26 cheeses. Also in the meantime your saving money with Wal-Mart's great prices.
This is a very, very dense bread that I would not call sourdough. The bake at home directions are under how long we bake it. We go for 10 to 15 minutes to try to achieve a crunchy crust. It rarely comes out that way, and when it does, it looses the crunch fast.
What it seems like it would be common sense to place the groceries in the shade that is 1 foot to the right of where the groceries were left in the front door but apparently it's not. Very disappointed that my grocery order in the hot sun for 30 minutes as opposed to in the shade right to the right of the door. Makes me want to take my pet back because nobody really gives a crap.
I pay for a Wal-Mart membership and it seems I always get the old food thats going stale like this sourdough loaf. It's hard and dry and it says best if used by 12/30/25. Thats in 2 days! Same with regular bread, as if shoppers are told to fulfill orders with any food that's going bad soon. We pay a membership and should be treated a lot better. We should be given food as if the CEO was shopping for themselves. So disappointed and I don't have the means of transportation to return this, that's why I pay a Wal-Mart membership fee so I can have my groceries delivered. Do better Wal-Mart!
