Walmart has an excellent selection of salad kits. They have the perfect amount of toppings and dressing included. And are perfect for a side salad or as your main meal for one person. Salad kits are budget friendly instead of buying everything separately that may go to waste. And you get to enjoy so many varieties. I don’t think you could even find many of the salad dressings in many grocery stores that come with a salad kit.
This is a really good, flavorful salad kit and makes an easy side or quick lunch. The mix of crunchy veggies, toppings, and dressing has a nice balance of smoky and slightly spicy, and it comes together in minutes. The only downside is that sometimes when you first open the bag, the cabbage smell can be a little pungent. It usually fades once it is tossed with the dressing, and the salad itself tastes fresh, but the initial whiff can be surprising. And it can cause an argument with your dinner guests about who farted in the kitchen. Still giving it five stars because the flavor and convenience make up for that brief moment of drama.
This salad kit is almost always on my reorder list. I always seem to add one to the pickup order. Its tasty, supposed to be good for you even though Homer S. famously said "you don't make friends with salad," This is still worth getting, even if you hate salad. It's tangy and somewhat spicy but not out of control at all. There are little tiny bags of toppings individually wrapped which is nice. It allows you to pick and choose how much of what you want on the salad and keeps the stuff a fresh as possible.
This is a delicious salad. There's just enough kick in the dressing to let you know it's Southwestern. But not so much that it tastes funny on a salad. I would highly recommend this to anybody who likes things a little spicy. The little crunchy crackers that come with the salad are delicious. The seasoning is just right.
i bought a bag of salad last week (from another store, a brand i was familiar with). i didn't check at the time, but the 'sell by' date was 2 or 3 days away. when i took it out of the frig 2 days later, it was a mess of soggy looking lettuce. this marketside salad was so fresh and crisp. this bag has a date that's 10 days out from the day i received it, though i am having it now (9 days out). it's a southwest salad and yes, cabbage does last a little better than lettuce, but the difference in the 2 salads is like night and day. this was a very good salad, with a very adequate amount of salad dressing and other accompaniments, i am usually too cheap to buy these pre-made bags of salad but i'm glad i bought this one. i will not hesitate in the future to buy pre-made salad if it's marketside. (i could not include a photo because it's gone)
By the time you calculate and cut a head of lettuce, purple cabbage, shred carrots %26 cheese you've already justified the cost of this 'pre-made'. It also comes with salad dressing as well as tiny strips of corn chips for garnish. Hellava deal. Add a tomato, a little cuke and you've got yourself a very filling meal. Buy two; you'll thank me later.
Bag less than half full. For the price, I expected more salad. This is enough for 2 small servings. The brand name salad kits are Pennie’s more and you get more salad in the bag. Great Value usually does better but their salad kits are consistently more than half empty. Very disappointing. I would not recommend
love the taste and the ingredients. If I had one complaint, it would be there isn't enough Southwest Chipotle dressing. It needs just a tad bit more to cover the whole salad during mixing. I would buy that by the bottle, though, so maybe it's just me. Enjoy!
A salad kit being sold without a salad kit? Seriously? I purchase this brand weekly, usually it’s fresh and ready to go. I even have this exact flavor on my weekly rotation, normally without issue. Unfortunately this week’s salad kit DID NOT COME WITH A KIT! NO DRESSING, NO TOPPINGS, JUST DRY SALAD. I dumped the entire bag to be absolutely sure but there was only greens, which I photographed for proof. How does this even happen? Where is this company’s quality control? Things like this should not happen and should be unacceptable. I paid for a ready-to-eat salad kit for that exact reason, because it’s ready to eat and comes with everything I need. I’m fine with spending the extra money on it for that reason. Instead, what I just got was dry overpriced lettuce that didn’t come with any of the dressing or toppings I paid for! I will find a new weekly brand to purchase because that’s a pretty significant mistake that I don’t want happening again when I want my ready-to-eat salad after a long workout. It’s not even about my money essentially being stolen and me not getting what I paid for, it’s about the principle and about the fact that this company doesn’t have competent quality control. A salad kit being sold without a salad kit. Seriously? Who knows what else has been overlooked. Disappointed and hangry.
I was hoping this would be similar to the santa fe salad bowls, but it's not. I usually make myself a big salad using half of one of these at a time as my meal/part of meal with a meat, but after realizing it's 90% or more, cabbage than anything else, I'm just going to use the other half of the greens for a stirfry, or maybe maybe lo mein which it would be perfect for these 2 meals. The dressing is good so I'll use the rest on chopped lettuce tomorrow.
