This steak is absolutely delectable. For the price, you can't beat it. No, it is not a true Japanese Wagyu. But do you want to spend hundreds of dollars for a steak? I don't. This is similar to the real thing, and for less than $20. The fat renders so well, that the steak practically melts in your mouth. My roommate complained that she hadn't had steak in ages because she has no teeth. I cut off a slice and told her "try this, you don't even need teeth to chew it." She also loved it. I spoil myself once a month with a Wagyu from Walmart and it's delicious every time. I highly recommend a pan sear to medium rare. You cannot find a steak this good for this price, anywhere else in Ohio.
Picked up these steaks at Walmart for a backyard dinner with guests, and they were a hit! Tender, flavorful, and grilled up beautifully. Everyone enjoyed them, and several people commented on how good they were. Great quality at a fair price. I'll definitely be back for more!
This is possibly the best store bought steak I've had. This year I bought real A5 Japanese Wagyu for Christmas dinner. Over rated for $125 a pound. This is the only Wagyu I'll buy
The steak flavor and tenderness leave little to dislike. I accidentally overcooked mine and it was still more tender than a non wagyu steak. It was on the thinner side, but still *almost* worth it.
Did have an at least an ounce worth of gristle in one spot. Would not have expected that much loss in such an expensive steak. Excellent flavor and tenderness otherwise !
Had partial sandwich for lunch. This is not what I expected. Not a Sub. No tomato, no lettuce, no signs of a sub that I expect, it was just a glorified sandwich on a roll. Must admit, very freshly made . Please redo description . Thanks
American wagyu ribeyes are better than NY strips. These are not even close to as good as the American wagyu available at my local butcher and are only slightly less expensive. I think I would buy USDA prime fillets instead of this next time.
II don't know what makes this steak,"wagyu." There was virtually no marbling at all. As a matter of fact, there was virtually no fat anywhere. I was tender, and it tasted ok. I've had USDA Choice New York steaks that were juicier and had better marbling than this supposed "wagyu" steak. I had the order delivered, so I didn't see it until i unpacked the order.
No marbling. Unbelievable amount of gristle and tough fiber. At $27/lb it's a terrible purchase. Save your money. Never had a ribeye that was close to being this flavorless and bad.
I order online for delivery. The picture in the store catalog looked like what I expected for Wagyu. The Wagyu NY Strip I received was not nearly as marbled as the catalog picture. I do not think this is really Wagyu beef.
