I had used Jiffy Mix for years, but it seems like it has changed in the past year - no flavor at all. This cornbread mix is double the price, but so much better. I grew up in Nashville where Martha White was the queen of baking needs, but I got away from it when Jiffy Mix was also very good and much friendlier with my budget. Think I'm going to put this cornbread mix back in my grocery budgeted items some (if not most) of the time. Definitely an item to stock up on if you can ever catch it on sale.
Growing up on pinto beans and cornbread, and the country, I can say that Martha White did a good job on her honey cornbread. You get that delicious cornbread taste with a little touch of honey, unlike I had as a child. For best results bake in a cast iron skillet and put a dab of butter on the top. Enjoy it with pinto's, a down home meal or even in a bowl with some milk. 😘
I've tried a lot of different cornbread mixes, but the Martha White Honey Cornbread and Muffin Mix is definitely a new favorite in my kitchen. The "Just Add Milk" convenience is a total lifesaver on busy weeknights, but it doesn't taste like a "shortcut" meal at all. The honey flavor is noticeable without being overpowering—it adds just enough sweetness to make it stand out, especially when paired with a spicy chili or a savory stew. I baked mine in a cast-iron skillet with a little bit of butter, and the edges got perfectly crisp while the middle stayed moist and fluffy. Whether you're making a batch of muffins for breakfast or a side for dinner, the texture is spot on every time. It's a great, budget-friendly pantry staple that tastes like you spent a lot more time on it than you actually did!
I first discovered Martha White products in my early 20's and I worked as a regional sales secretary for the company. Always excellent quality and great tasting, this honey cornbread mix proves that even after all these years, the Martha White brand is still going strong. This cornbread mix is super easy to make and the taste is absolutely YUM! It's on the sweet side, as you might expect from a recipe with honey, but not obnoxiously so. If you prefer a sweet cornbread, you'll probably love this mix. I sure do! It's great with anything but I think it really shines when I serve it with my homemade chili. The slightly sweet bread provides a perfect foil for the spicy chili. I've tried other cornbread mixes but Martha White honey cornbread is my favorite. Try it yourself and see if you don't agree!
I was skeptical when I first bought this last year and I'm happy I did - this is the only brand of cornbread I purchase now. Follow the directions and it comes out perfectly. Using a small 8 inch cast iron skillet is key. Warm it in the oven a few minutes before adding the mixture. So so good!!
I usually make my cornbread from scratch, but Martha White has me beat. It reminds me of the little loaves you get in some restaurants. Serve with honey butter.
I've tried several packages of cornbread but Martha Whites' cornbread has never disappointed me. It's super easy to use and the taste reminds me of my grandmother's from scratch cornbread.
my family loves this new quick and simple cornbread. I Add 1/4 cup of sour cream to make it even better but it isn't required because this stuff is great by itself.
Absolutely garbage! As a big back this offended me. I wish I could sue to whoever manufactured this recipe because it is downright the nasties cornbread ever made. Mixed well and looked beautiful cooked. The minute this dreadful cursed cornbread went in my mouth I thought I did something wrong. Maybe I missed an ingredient. I dug through the trash and reread the simple list of ingredients and instructions only to realize I did NOT miss any ingredients but made it perfectly. I mean it came out so pretty and golden. But tasted like an old use sponge laying on the back of your sink waiting for you to end it's miserable little life. Worth cornbread ever. Probably will never financially and mentally recover from this experience. Going to have to go to counseling now.
I've seen I have seen this item in the stores. I'll price that. $1.25. when ordered it I believe I saw it was seven packages at 7 oz per package and I will receive one at $4 and some change sent back due to the fact that only cost $1.25 package
