Marvy Periwinkle Fineline Marker

I tested different surfaces for use with artist's gouache and the Strathmore 400 Series paper/ pad was my #1 choice. I would like to know the fiber content, it is not noted; however, the surface is smooth, fine, and to me almost feels feels slick. Therefore, the gouache doesn't absorb into the surface, like normal fiber or cotton paper! My results seem much crisper and colors are clean and sharp, and not washy. ( I apply the gouache with little water, not in a washy watercolor way.). I have also tried Yuppo, for a slick, non absorptive surface, and the colors are strong and bright , but Yuppo to me is harder to control. The 9" x12" size is a great travel size for my small sketches and paintings, dries very quickly, and doesn't bleed through the back. I use it particularly with my dry gouache travel set I created ( with the help of Bernard Dellario's on line classes through Winslow Art Center.)

Excellent for markers

This is my summer sketchbook of all the flowers I can find, draw and paint with watercolor. I actually really impressed with this book. I bought it to use with my watercolor pencils however, very soon I found myself using my watercolor paints, on both sides of the paper. The only problem I experienced was trying to scrub off some paint that I dropped onto the sheet, so maybe not so good for scrubbing. I think I would also prefer to have a hard cover trying to draw outside. This paper did exceed my expectations!

Passed all my home-made tests. I tested this with paint pens, Papermate Flair felt tip pen, Sharpies, acrylic paint (thick-right-out-of-the-tube and watered down so it was practically watercolor). It did not bleed or seep through. However, I did not test oil paint or spray paint. I will never bother with canvas boards or stretching canvas on a frame again. This paper will be a lot easier to store than a canvas with frame.

Perfect surface for gouache painting.

great for acrylic mixed media when you need a paper with some substance. nice tooth.

I buy all my oil colors at Jerry's.

Not happy with the paper quality. Not great for watercolor.
