Mary Ellen's Scented Best Press Clear Starch Alternative

The is the best fabric starch I've ever used. I iron a lot. I tried this product on a whim, without regard to the higher (than competing brands) price. Currently, I have spray cans of Niagra (nice spray, so-so wrinkle release) , Fautless Premium (so-so nozzle spray; good wrinkle release, though can leave clothes stiff), Easy Glide On (the worst nozzles , okay product when the propellant works.) & Magic Sizing (ok overall). Also on hand is Niagra non-aerosol spray pump. Regardless of product I use, I lightly spray damp clothing with starch and allow hang dry before ironing to avoid spotting that can occur when spraying dry clothing. I did the same with Mary Ellens clear starch and was surprised to find how much easier wrinkles and puckers released and remained that way until worn, even when expose to humid conditions. Cannot say the same for the other products, sadly.

I'm a quilter. I have been using Best Press for years! So when I see it at a good price I pick it up!

Seeing these positive reviews makes me think I got the wrong "Mary Ellen's Scented Best Press Clear Starch Alternative". But it really is just a mess. Granted, I am only comparing this to my experience with Niagara and Easy On, but I will never use this spray ever again. Here is why: -When using Mary Ellen's spray, my clothes are not as crisp and straight when using other brands. -After spraying clothes, clothes remain damp for sometime, even after ironing it. It almost seems like I need to air out my clothes before I put them on because it is so damp. -After spraying my clothes three of four times, coughing ensues. Not exactly sure why my lungs feel the need to cough after spraying, but it seems like this product has a strong chemical that gets into my nostrils and start to make me cough. Maybe it is just my lungs, but I have not had the need to cough after spraying any other brand of starch. ...But that is just my experience. Maybe I got a bad batch or something. But, I will never use this starch (alternative) again.
