the taste is not the same as before. they were round not flat and square like. no taste of peanut butter

Not the same.
This is not the same as the Mary Jane we got as a kid. Similar, but no peanut butter inside and each piece is about half the size of the original.

Terrible imitation
DON'T DO IT! These are not Mary Janes. Long and skinny pieces. No peanut butter flavor at all actually more vanilla flavored than maple. Not the candy you are remembering and actually not very good candy .....period

Not the same recipe!
Now the taffy is to soft, tastes like corn syrup instead of maple, and has no peanut butter center. Mary Jane Taffy was my favorite candy before the recipe was changed.
