i have a 30 in. analog electric and a 40 in. digital electric - the 40 in. has a cold smoker box set up with it - I LOVE THE SETUP - I will be making the 30 in. into a cold smoker also which will allow me to do hot and cold smoking at the same time - the box ensures that heat/smoke is not lost because the door has to be opened to add wood chips - I love both setups - Nope, i am not afraid to experiment
Switch went out on old one, got the new one for backup
It works great. It puts out a lot of good smoke. And, when attached to the smoker, it adds additional heat and flavor.
I received the Masterbuilt slow smoker and attached it to my Masterbuilt 340G electric smoker. I filled the slow smoker with a Masterbuilt mixture of apple, cherry and maple wood chips. I then placed an whole deer hindquarter in the smoker, placed a drip pan under it, and sat back and let the smoker work it's magic. Seven hours later, when the hindquarter reaches an internal temp of 145 degrees, I removed the most wonderful tasting smoked deer meat that I have ever smoked. I did not have to add any additional wood chips during the entire smoking process. If you have been contemplating on buying the new Masterbuilt slow smoker, just go ahead and get it, it is money well spent and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND getting one.
the name says it all nice item.
I like the unit a lot. But the air flow can be an issue getting the smoke from the slow smoke box to the main box. I crack the ash box just a 1/8 inch and gets much more smoke through the system. I like my new 130 with the broiler BUT. My old unit would smoke nice set at 220. But the new one needs to be 240 before the chips will get smoking going.
The attachment is a lot easier to use than the chip tray because it holds a lot more chips and doesn't have to be refilled so often. However, it does put out a lot more smoke which may overpower some foods. I've only used it a few times so I'm still experimenting.
It works pretty well. Using it to offset the minimal amount of wood chips that can be placed in the Electric Smoker. The downside is the cheap paint that Masterbuilt uses, it will bubble up and make a mess. You will end up having to scrap the mess away. Masterbuilt, there is a heat resistant paint that you could have used. Also, the screen on the bottom of the chimney deteriorates rather quickly, the I have not found a replacement for it. You will have to manufacture something, when it falls apart.
The paint peel after the first cook. Not sure if that was good for the food.
What the heck you gonna cook in this it's so small it worthless I want refund
