I am not sure how well this palette box will keep my oils from drying out because the first one I received was damaged in shipping. But I must say Jerry's was on the spot ready to make things right even considering the holiday rush. I have a new Sta-Wet Palette that I have been assured will be shipped shortly. Thanks to the folks at Jerry's for their prompt service.

This is fantastic! One of my biggest struggles in transitioning from oils to acrylics had been wasting paint as it dries out on my pallet. I was able to paint with no "skins" forming as I worked, and when I took a break, the paint was fresh and usable when I started back the following weekend.

I bought the large palette years ago, but later discovered that I didn't have the room on my table to use it. I ordered this small palette and love it! It kept my Ateiler paints moist for a week while I worked on 1 painting. So handy to have all your mixed colors usable throughout the process to cover up mistakes or make lines straighter. It was also handy to have the background color available throughout to cover up finger prints, etc.

The sponge is amazing! You just need to spritz water in the sp9 ge or add a small amount of water to the tray to keep the sponge wet after a couple of days.

These are excellent pallets for oil and acrylic... I have used them consistently over the last 30 years.. highly recommend it and the wet pallet paper for acrylics. I start my students with this pallet from the start.

Well i had one before and it broke , the lid cracked so I bought another one. You would think that they could make things better. The last one only lasted 18 years,

Love these. I have four of them. I use professional paint only though & require parchment paper on top of the provided white paper; otherwise my paint soaks in and is lost. Another downside is the longer they sit, the more they lose thickness. So despite being able to work longer, you still have to be fast because the moisture is going to breakdown the acrylics. Anything past the 24hr mark isn't ideal if you care about longevity of your work imo

Pros: This palette is a large size (16 x 12). I will be able to do a lot of mixing for landscape painting. It is solid not flimsy. Con: The directions to get the lid off are inside the palette (lift off on the two left corners first). The lid was very difficult to get off the first time %26 I was doing it on the wrong sides not knowing the directions were on the inside.

The masterson sta-wet palette overall is great if you know how to properly use it. Especially with the papers. They don't work with golden heavy body (and their open line) you need an in between layer of parchment paper & even then the paint breaks down within 24hrs. So while it does last yes, the quality of paint decreases because of the moisture. If you care about archival quality, these palettes only give you an extra 24hrs-48hrs. If you don't care otherwise, then they last weeks of course. But the paint will get runnier over time regardless of what you do to stop it. The sponges should be changed every 1-3 months depending how often you keep them wet, to assure no mold builds. It's not worth the risk.
