Every 6 moths is the recommended replacement time. The filter location is at the top of the air tower. Only a small push on the clips will release the cover. Be sure to remove the plastic covering. The activated charcoal in the filter will remove any unwanted smells from the refrigerator until the next filter change.

The filter itself was easy to switch out and within a couple days I could actually tell a difference in the freezer especially, it just had a cleaner smell than before. So far I am very happy with this product and I'm definitely going to recommend it to anyone I know!
