Do NOT buy

tarheelm July 25, 2026

We purchased this washer with matching dryer in February 2025. It has been a year and a half and the the water intake valve has already failed, and we are having to pay to replace it despite it being a known problem. On top of that, there was supposed to be an easy way to clean the drain filter, because it was designed for pet owners. If you look at the specs and instructions online, they do not match. You have to take off the whole cover, not open a drawer to clean the filter. It is ridiculous considering the amount of money that was paid for this. It is not removing pet hair well (we don't have large dogs) and is not easy to clean. Add to that, it is not working after 18 months.

One star because it looks pretty

Liza T March 17, 2026

I don't normally write reviews, but this washer and dryer combo is so unbelievably bad I felt obligated to say something, if only to save someone else from the same disappointment. If you're in the market for a washer and dryer that will actively make laundry day worse, the Maytag Pet Pro pair is a masterclass in frustration. What's even more impressive (in the worst way possible) is that all of these issues started showing up before the set was even a year old. And for something branded “Pet Pro,” it does absolutely nothing special. If anything, it just clumps the dog hair all together on my clothes most of the time. The washer can't even handle something as basic as fully dissolving a laundry pod. Half the time you're left with sticky residue on your clothes like it just gave up halfway through the job. And the interior light? Blinks off almost immediately after you open the door, which is somehow both useless and annoying. The dryer isn't any better. It's like owning a temperamental piece of junk that throws error codes for fun. You'll spend more time “rebooting” it than actually drying clothes, which is ridiculous for something that's supposed to save you time. And to top it off, the “low” heat setting is not low at all so good luck trying to dry anything delicate without worrying about it getting cooked. Overall, this set feels less like an upgrade and more like a punishment. Save yourself the frustration and buy literally anything else.

OK washer. Stupid design. Not worth it.

TIppinL March 21, 2026

Many issues with this washer. It's the dumbest design ever, not being able to access the filter when it clogs (because it eill). The pet pro function is worthless. I have two dogs and the washer could not handle the winter/spring shedding off my clothes. In 2 months we had to try access the filter (THERE'S NO REMOVABLE COMPARTMENT) by removing the entire front panel which will not come off if you don't take the top panel. Since it locks shut when it clogs, we had to cut a hole in the front to be able to fix the very frequent clogging issue. This design is stupid. Do NOT buy it.

Stay away, frequent service required

Frosty1406 August 3, 2026

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this machine because we have multiple dogs. It does capture some dog hair in the filter, but the rest is caught in the water pump filter. The problem is there is no consumer access to the pump filter, it requires disassembly of the washer and/or a service call. I have had this washer less than 6 months and already two service calls...IMO, a very poor design. A majority of other front load washers have an access door that allows the filter to be cleaned

Do not buy this washer

CMFP May 9, 2026

This is the worst washer I have ever owned. We constantly have to unplug it during wash cycles to “reset” the washer due to error codes. Then start the wash over. Sometimes it does it twice in a row. We've had it for just under three months.

Do not buy- stay away

kclen February 19, 2026

My machine is a year old. The electronic control failed so it won't power on. They have one technician in the area that is scheduled weeks out. The part to fix this is on back order. The result is that I have a 'new' washer that is under warranty that won't work for months.

Save your time and money

CRae08 August 5, 2026

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is close to if not the worst washer I have ever had the misfortune of owning. I spent the extra money for the pet pro version and this clogs more often than any normal washer I have owned. The washer will just stop draining randomly and leave my clothes sopping wet. The hair traps barely trap any pet hair which I assume then causes the drain to get clogged. If you're buying this for the pet feature save some time and don't. Regular top load off brand handled my pet hair better.

Great concept - poor design

dbdinoc1 June 11, 2026

I have had the machine for about 18 months and had to have two maintenance calls during that time. Both for clog issues. There is no way to access/unclog the filter unless you take off the entire front panel of machine. This should be user friendly and no brainer! Every other competitor lets the user access the filter through a little access panel on bottom front panel of machine why can't Maytag/WhirlPool? I will likely replace by end of year with a competitor's model.

Pet hair wins the match against this machine

AshleyNB May 17, 2026

Absolute JUNK. Drain pump filter clogs with pet hair after a dozen washes/1 month for me. Requires a tech. Even though the manual states I have drain pump filter access, I do not!! These machines should have been recalled or a class action suit done soon!
