I love this seasoning mix. I find the flavor wonderful and I'm glad it is low -sodium. I like it better than other low-sodium Mexican spice blends. I don't think the cilantro is too powerful, but then I'm not cursed with the OR6A2 gene, thankfully. See the following info from the Cleveland Clinic. "If you can't stand the taste of cilantro, your genes may be to blame. You likely have a specific gene called OR6A2 that makes you super-sensitive to a component of this herb — and, yes, can make it taste like soap."
This seasoning is wonderful and much more subtle than a traditional american taco seasoning. It allows the flavors of the tomatoes and any other vegetables you put in a dish to shine rather than just an overpowering spice flavor. It is more herbal than a traditional taco seasoning , which is some of the the reviewers' complaints. Personally, that gives your dish a more complex flavor. I also like the low sodium content- you can always add more salt to your specific taste.
This spice has a very good flavor when added to tacos and nachos. Just an authentic food truck flavor. I will buy this again.
Spot on! Best Mexican seasoning on the market!!
This seasoning is AMAZING!!! Makes the best chicken tacos.
Excellent Mexican flavor. Complex and well-balanced with a slow and gentle picante heat. There are dehydrated goodies in this blend so allow spice a few minutes to rehydrate before serving food seasoned with it. I bought it to season quick steaks for instant carne street tacos. 🌮 👍
I don't know how, but it is popping with flavor! You can even clearly taste the cilantro and it doesn't have an overwhelming "taco seasoning" flavor. It really tastes fresh. I can't say enough good things about it. I put it on everything, even soup.
The flavors are nice with this mixed spice, but the lack on instructions/ suggestions for use make it difficult to work with. I've gone through almost an entire bottle using guesswork. The only "recipe" (per se) I've figured out is for taco filling. Brown the protein (1 lb of ground meat or a pound of shredded white fish) then add about 1.5-2 Tablespoons of the seasoning plus one 8oz can of tomato sauce.
As pointed out by others, there's no instructions. I mixed 1/2 lbs. of ground sirloin, 1/3+ lbs. mild Italian sausage and 3-1/2 tablespoons of the Mexican Taco Truck seasoning. It turned out great!
If you don't absolutely LOVE cilantro, this seasoning is not for you. The cilantro overpowers other flavors making tacos taste bland and sweet.
