I love using basil in homemade pasta sauce and other recipes. This one was much better than other brands I've tried. It is so fragrant when you open the jar and the pieces are not too small (like dust) or too large (can't come out with shaker). I would absolutely repurchase.
The McCormick brand is a staple in my spice rack. I received a free sample of their Gourmet Oragnic Basil Leaves and it did not dissapoint! The flavor is robust and much closer to fresh basil than other dried brands I've tried. While it is not as budget friendly as other brands considering the size, it is organic with a concentrated flavor so you don't need to use as much. Our family loves it for soups and dry rubs, however, you can use it on any dish to enhance the overall flavor. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking to up their dinner game and take their dishes from homey to gourmet!
I didn't expect to have strong feelings about dried basil, but here we are. This one is actually really good. The flavor is fresh and not dusty or dull like some others I've tried. You can smell it as soon as you open the container, which is always a good sign. I've used it in pasta sauce, on roasted veggies, and it holds up well without needing a ton. It blends nicely without overpowering everything, but still gives that classic basil flavor you want. Also appreciate that it isn't all crushed into powder. The texture still has some shape to it, which makes a difference when you're cooking. It's one of those pantry staples you don't think about until you get a bad one. This is not that.
*I got this product for free in exchange for writing this review* I received the McCormick Gourmet Organic Basil Leaves. I tend to use a lot of basil in my pasta dishes so I was excited to try this spice from a well known brand in my home. I organize my spices in matching jars with labels but the first thing I noticed was how nice the bottle is. Would be a great glass spice bottle you wouldnt mind displaying out of the spice cabinet. Basil has such a wonderful aroma and this product was no exception to that. Tasted great in my pasta dish and even added some after cooking for display. Would buy again! No complaints from anyone here!
I am always worried about dry spices but this one actually packed a good amount of flavor. It came through even in pasta sauce so you could still taste it without having to use half a jar. I also tried it on veggies and it came out very nicely. it was balanced and the aroma came through very well.
I got the McCormick Organic Basil as a sample to try. From the moment I opened it, I could tell it was going to be great! It was super fragrant and it is fairly coarse, so you can tell you're getting a good spice. I don't usually buy Italian seasoning and I needed some for a recipe, so I just mixed all the usual spices to get the flavor and I could tell the basil elevated the flavor. It's a very solid choice, especially if you want an organic one!
I've used a lot of dried basil over the years - store brands, random spice rack finds, you name it - and this one stands out in a solid way. Compared to other basil seasonings I've tried, the McCormick Organic Basil feels noticeably fresher and more flavorful. It has that classic basil aroma right when you open the bottle, and it actually comes through in your cooking instead of getting lost. Some cheaper brands can taste kind of dull or dusty, but this one has a more vibrant, well-rounded flavor that blends really well into sauces, chicken, and even simple dishes like eggs or roasted veggies. This seasoning is super versatile - you can use it in pasta sauces, sprinkle it over pizza, mix it into marinades, the list goes on... It's also organic, which is a nice bonus if you're trying to be a little more mindful about what you're cooking with. And because it's dried well, you don't need to use a ton to get good flavor, so the bottle lasts a while. I'd recommend this seasoning to anyone who cooks at home, especially if you rely on simple spices to elevate your meals. It's an easy upgrade that makes a noticeable difference without requiring a ton of extra effort.
I have so many seasonings from so many different brands in my kitchen cabinet. I was happy to receive McCormick Gourmet Organic Basil Leaves to try out. This brand of basil has a good flavor. I feel I don't need to add extra basil into a recipe to be able to taste the basil flavor with this brand. I am happy with McCormick Gourmet Organic Basil Leaves and highly recommend them.
We used McCormick's Gourmet Organic Basil Leaves to help accent lemon-pepper chicken + pasta and it helped liven up the dish. Right away you notice a more intense basil flavors than other dried basil spices I've tried. Also appreciated that it was organic.
I was to trying to get matching spices for a rack and the store automatically sub my request 2 x so I am out the money for items I don't want. I blame the app because it rarely gives me the opportunity to refuse substitutions and it is too difficult for me to return. I need to STOP shopping @ Walmart.
