I recently tried McCormick Organic Carraway Seed(1.62 oz) which i received at no cost to test and review, and ended up being a really versatile pantry addition. I used them in a simple sautéed cabbage and potatoes recipe-just butter, onions, sliced potatoes, cabbage, salt and a teaspoon of caraway seeds-and they added a really nice depth and a bit of traditional Eastern European flavor. Toasting the seeds briefly before adding them made the aroma even better. Overall, they're great if you like experimenting with hearty, savory recipes like breads, cabbage dishes or even soups. Not something I'd use every day, but definately worth having on hand for the right dish.
I have used the McCormick Gourmet caraway seeds as is and have also ground them into powder with a mortar and pestle as needed by my recipes. Fresh and flavorful, I'm very happy with the quality of this brand. I even purchased the McCormick Gourmet marjoram to combine with the caraway seeds to make Austrian Goulash. Absolutely divine.
Great quality caraway seeds—fresh, flavorful, and perfect for bread or hearty dishes. A little goes a long way! This organic caraway has a nice, clean flavor and good aroma right out of the bottle. It adds a distinctive taste to dishes like rye bread or cabbage-based recipes. The only downside is that, like most caraway, the flavor can be strong if you overuse it, so it takes a bit of balance. Overall, it's a reliable, high-quality spice, especially if you're looking for an organic option.
I've been using McCormick Gourmet Organic Caraway Seed in homemade dishes like meat dishes and cozy soups lately and it's so good. The flavor is warm, slightly earthy, with that classic rye bread taste. I also love that it's organic and comes in a sturdy glass jar. A little goes a long way!
I didn't expect to notice a huge difference, but these McCormick Organic Caraway Seeds are seriously good. You can smell the freshness right when you open the jar, and the flavor is way stronger (in a good way) than other brands I've used. A little goes a long way, which I love. I've used them in bread, sauerkraut, and roasted veggies, and they just make everything taste a little more "wow." It's that warm, slightly licorice kind of flavor, but not overpowering. Also like that it's organic and comes in a glass jar instead of plastic. Overall, just a solid upgrade if you cook with caraway at all—I'd definitely buy it again.
We tried the McCormick Gourmet Organic Caraway seed in our weekly goulash recipe and it did not disappoint. It really added a level of depth and warmth to our already delicious recipe. My husband added it in during the seasoning step of our recipe and it had plenty of time to marry in. Even the kids loved it. We also really enjoyed the container and that it is recyclable and easy to handle.
I used the McCormick organic caraway seeds in a roasted potato and cabbage recipe, and they added a warm, slightly earthy flavor. As everything cooked, the seeds gave off a really nice aroma that made the dish smell so flavorful. They weren't too strong, just enough to make a difference. Overall, they were easy to use and made a basic recipe taste better.
The McCormick Organic Caraway Seeds comes in a glass bottle, which I prefer to the plastic bottles. The seeds are full and unbroken. They have a strong and pleasant flavor. I used them first when I baked some bread. They provided a welcome earthy flavor to the bread and elevated it from a standard loaf. I added it to some sauerkraut and it enhanced it substantially. I love the fact that it is organic. The seeds are long and slender. They provide a taste that is similar to licorice or fennel with a hint of dill and citrus. Teh finish is nice and slightly peppery, without being overwhelming. The seeds came in a vacuum sealed vial with an expiration date about 3.5 years from now…which is nice, because I will be able to use them all before their best by date expires.
I used these in my sourdough recipe as I wanted a nice hearty rye type bread with a nice earthy warm flavor. These caraway seeds are incredibly fresh and fragrant, even despite being dried. They have a bold, balanced flavor that elevates the bread nicely. The aroma alone tells you the quality is top-tier, and a little goes a long way in adding depth and character. It's easy to use too much, but for my very large loaf of bread, I used about 10g (about 1tbsp) so don't overdo it. This is one of those spices that can easily transform a good bread (or some dish!) to really memorable! You'll love it!
I received this item for free in exchange for writing a review. Great product and I love that they are organic. The jar is good quality. I took one star off because taste wise, it is similar to other non organic brands and I'm not sure if it would be worth the higher price point
