I chose this product over others because it comes from a brand I trust, and I appreciate that it's organic and packaged in a glass jar as opposed to plastic. The whole nutmeg is easy to grate and adds a noticeably fresher, richer flavor compared to pre-ground options. It's a great addition to any pantry, especially for those who value quality ingredients. I would definitely purchase this again and recommend it to friends and family. I'm excited to keep using it in sauces, baked goods, and even cocktails.
I received whole nutmeg as a promotion. McCormicks always makes great spices. I have never used full cloves. But the difference was huge. Made a spice cake with it after grinding it up. It turned out very nice and I think that the fresh cloves made a huge difference.
Wow, this spice blew me away. I used it in homemade snickerdoodle cookies and pumpkin cake bars and was super impressed. I'm used to using pre-ground nutmeg in my recipes but after using this whole spice, I'm convinced I will convert! I used a spice muddler to break up the whole nutmeg and it didn't take too much effort. Thanks McCormick Gourmet for the free Organic Whole Nutmeg! Baked goods with quality spices is a whole new experience. I'm excited about all the future things I will make with this spice and I plan on experimenting with adding nutmeg to pastas, soups and casseroles as well.
I absolutely love this nutmeg by McCormick. It's very strong so you don't need much. I use it on my coffee and my desserts and it is a phenomenal product. I have a friend from the Caribbean who told me years ago about the benefits of using nutmeg in your coffee he used to carry a nut with him and sprinkling in his coffee all the time I could never find a nut of it in the grocery stores, and t and I've never seen such a beautiful container or jar for it. I absolutely love this product .
Whole nutmegs are not something you commonly see in a spice container. This is the perfect addition to a spice rack. So many uses. Adding a dash of freshly ground nutmeg to the top of a latte makes a cup of coffee elevate to a coffee house drink. This is always going to be a must in my spice rack going forward.
I do not use nutmeg as often as some other spices, but this McCormick whole nutmeg is packed with flavor. I have not used whole nutmeg in the past but enjoyed grinding it myself. It really seems to have a fresh flavor. I feel that a little goes a long way so this is a great value for the amount that comes in the jar.
I've tried a lot of nutmeg over the years, and McCormick's is the one I keep coming back to. The aroma hits you the moment you open the jar—warm, sweet, and perfectly fresh. It adds that cozy depth to everything from baked goods to oatmeal to holiday dishes. What I love most is the consistency. Every jar tastes the same: rich, smooth, and never bitter. It blends beautifully into recipes and gives them that little something extra without overpowering the other flavors.
I love the McCormick Gourmet line because the jars actually look good on my open shelving. These whole nutmeg seeds look like little rustic gems inside the glass. Plus, there's something so satisfying and chef-like about grating your own spices over a finished pasta dish or a latte. It makes my kitchen feel like a high-end bistro even when I'm just making toast. You only need a couple of swipes on the microplane to get a massive punch of flavor. It's organic, the glass jar keeps them fresh, and it's honestly a steal for the quality.Grating it fresh releases all these oils and a sweet, spicy scent that the pre-ground stuff just doesn't have.If you are making pumpkin pie, eggnog, or bechamel sauce for lasagna, do not skip this. I received this product for free for testing and review purpose.
I've always loved the McCormick Gourmet line, and this whole nutmeg is a perfect example of why. The glass jars look beautiful on open shelving, and the nutmeg seeds themselves almost look like little rustic gems. It adds a nice visual touch to my kitchen, but more importantly, it elevates the whole cooking experience. There's something genuinely satisfying about grating fresh nutmeg over a finished dish or even a latte—it feels a bit like stepping into a high-end bistro, even if I'm just making something simple at home. You only need a couple of passes on a microplane to get a strong burst of flavor, which really speaks to the quality. What stands out most is the aroma and taste. As soon as I open the jar, I get that warm, sweet, slightly spicy scent that pre-ground nutmeg just can't match. Freshly grated, it releases oils that add a deeper, richer flavor to everything from pumpkin pie and eggnog to béchamel sauce for lasagna. It blends smoothly into recipes without overpowering them, just enhancing everything with a cozy depth. I also appreciate the consistency—every jar I've used has delivered the same fresh, balanced flavor, never bitter. It works beautifully across a wide range of dishes, from baked goods and oatmeal to savory sauces and drinks. Overall, this is excellent quality organic nutmeg at a great value. It's become a staple in my kitchen, and I highly recommend it if you want to take your cooking up a notch.
I had never used fresh nutmeg before, but wanted to add it when making French toast. It really elevated it and added a savory note to an otherwise sweet dish. Next up is trying it with hot chocolate, yum. The nutmegs were in perfect condition and smell amazing! My only complaint is that the sticker placed on the lid and bottle does not come off cleanly and after trying the typical solutions, is still sticky.
