McCormick Kosher Mixed Pickling Spice, 1.5 oz Bottle

I received this product for free from BzzAgent to try and review, and all opinions are my own. I used this for homemade pickles and was really happy with the flavor! The spice blend adds a nice mix of savory and warm spices without overpowering the pickles. I especially like the convenience of having everything already blended together instead of having to buy difference spices. As I stated, I received this product for free this time, but am excited to buy it again in the future to save money and time! A little goes a long way, and I can see myself using this for future batches. I'd also like to try it with different vegetables next!

I used for pickles, works wonderfully for sweet or spiced pickles as well as corned beef. For the Corned beef just add 2 tablespoons of the spice blend directly into the pot when boiling corned beef, cabbage, and potatoes. And it tasted great with both.

I decided to try McCormick Pickling Spice for the first time. The presentation of these spices were beautiful. I've never seen anything like this before. The aroma was very bold. I decided to create a marinade with this product. Those 11 spices really showed up in the meal. It was new to my household but as we use it more I'm sure out tastebuds will pick up on it.

I think McCormick's Mixed Pickling Spice is one of those pantry items that quietly becomes essential once you start using it. The blend is super aromatic — warm, slightly spicy, and full of whole spices that make homemade pickles taste way more complex than just vinegar and salt. It saves me the trouble of measuring out individual spices, and the flavor always comes out balanced.

I've never made pickles or used pickling spice before, but as a 'pickle enthusiast' I figured it was about time I try my hand at homemade pickles. I also loved seeing tons of black peppercorns and large pieces of red pepper mixed throughout (gotta have a little heat!). I opted for an overnight pickle recipe, and McCormick pickling spice made preparing the brine much quicker and easier, as all the needed spices are already mixed together! The end result was delicious, flavorful, aromatic homemade pickles. I will definitely use McCormick pickling spice for all my future pickle projects. I was surprised when I first opened this at how strongly it smelled of cinnamon and clove. I was making pickles but I didn't want them to be sweet so I was worried about using spices that are traditionally paired with sweet ingredients. But my entire family agrees, this pickling spice made the best pickles we've ever tried! The cinnamon and clove pair so well with the other spices and give a depth of flavor that is truly amazing. I can't wait to use it on a roast next. I think it would be heavenly on a corned beef!

The seasoning itself was a great addition to some spicy pickles I made fresh from my garden! The spice added the perfect extra flavor to my pickles that I will be using for each batch moving forward! What a wonderful item to get to try out! I always have a hard time coming up with my own spice mixes, but this helps me take the guess work out of that. I am definitely a cinnamon girly and this is cinnamon forward. Can't wait to try this out during the upcoming holidays because I think it'll be great in stews and even in a punch!

I used this to make a batch of quick refrigerator pickles with cucumbers and onions. The blend is convenient — mustard seed, coriander, bay leaf, peppercorns, and dill seed all in one jar, so I didn't have to buy and measure a bunch of separate spices. The pickles came out crisp and nicely tangy. My one real issue is the cinnamon. It comes through more than I expected and gives the brine a sweet, almost warm-spice flavor that I don't love in a savory pickle. If you like a more old-fashioned, bread-and-butter style, it'll probably work great for you. For a classic dill-forward pickle, I found myself wishing I could leave it out. Compared to other pickling blends I've used, this one is easy to find and reasonably priced, but the flavor profile leans sweeter than I prefer. I'd recommend it to friends who like a sweeter pickle; I personally would probably buy a cinnamon-free blend or mix my own next time.

I used this spice blend to make "Spicy Dill Spears" recipe from the McCormick website. It wasn't bad, but I personally found the cinnamon overpowering.
