I have the 102mm. This scope has the same tripod an altazimuth mount.slow motion control knobs also.the starfinder scope is a red dot.So when you look through it the images are erect. The view through the scope is erect image also. Once the finder scope is adjusted to view what you are looking at through the scope you wont have much trouble finding things in the night sky. Once you find a planet or comet to view remain still because movement on your deck or porch will bounce the images in the scope. Fairly easy to set up an use. Im able to see the moons of Jupiter and the rings of Saturn. Mars is going to be closest to earth this fall. So enjoy an Dont shy away from purchasing this telescope. Have fun an share with the kids.
Easy set up and awesome views. Can not be beat for the price.
I am pleased with my first telescope! I'm a beginner with astronomy and star gazing. It's holding up well. It was affordable. I probably need more instruction on what exactly to do with all the pieces. I've stayed with the main piece to gaze at the moon, planets, and stars. It's good for a beginner adult and a child with an adult's help. I see the moon clearly, but strain to see Jupiter, it's moons, and Venus. But the fact that I can find it is satisfying. I will definitely upgrade in the future. But I recommend it for anyone new to this. I don't recommend going for anything lower in focus. I am really enjoying using it. So much so, it just stays out ready to observe, instead of in it's carrying case.
This telescope is a real steal at the price. It is compact and portable, yet has remarkable power. The included accessories allow great views of both land and sky and with perfect clarity. The features on this telescope are something expected of units costing many hundreds more, I highly recommend this product. It is perfect for beginner and experienced users alike. The erector mirror eyepiece puts everything in proper position so there is no need to think about an objects orientation, great for first time users. You will enjoy this scope for many years to come. I know I will.
It's the first time I have a telescope, I bought Meade Infinity 70mm I didn't expect to see much, however I was very excited when I could see Saturn and its rings (small but I could see it)
Great beginner Telescope, especially for viewing the sun, moon, and stars. Gives a good image and blocks condensation. It is a step above the standard start scope.
great you can see the mountain's on the moon
Telescope shows me awesome views of the heavens, great buy.
You can't beat this telescope for this price point. First, it is very nice looking. And next, it is sturdy, fairly easy to operate, and we have been able to find the moon and stars. We are still learning how to use the telescope, but we get better and better each time. The lenses are very clear. It is easy to assemble. The tripod legs are adjustable. My kids (ages 8 and 6) love this telescope. They love searching for the moon and stars. My middle daughter is dying to see the rings of Saturn but we have not found Saturn yet. We were able to see the moon very clearly. We could even see the craters on the moon! And my daughters have learned alot from the night sky and they even picked up a new joke..."Have you found Uranus?" haha...But for the price point of this telescope, we have no regrets...we have used it alot and the kids are having fun.
The red dot view finder came broke and did not work very disappointed
