The best meat thermometer. The thermometer instantly reads the meat. I will not BBQ without it! it instantaneously gives you the temp. Your food doesn't overcook because you're watching the temp slowly rise. You can even read the temp inside your house - that's how accurate it is. One improvement would be to make the thermometer water proof when you wash it. Be sure to only wash and dry the metal part and not the casing which holds the battery.

It has a magnet so you can keep it on your fridge or stove. The readings felt accurate I rested a little easier cooking meat knowing it's cooked to proper temperature. No more guess work.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We enjoy cooking indoors and outdoors and many recipes often indicate food temperatures and we have guessed and cooked the food a bit longer to assure that it is cooked well. This just doesn't cut it with meats. I like my steaks well-done and by wife med-rare! This tool is what we should have had a long time ago. It is easy to use and reads temperatures quickly and accurately. It comes with two AAA batteries and an instruction booklet that is q uite helpful. To turn on, simply press the power button; hold this button for 3 seconds to turn off. The automatic probe release button is large and located on the opposite end of the power button. Pressing this will release the probe and lock it into place. We used it to test the temperature of the oil for frying and once the probed was inserted in the oil, the temperature was easy to read because of the large and bright LED display. The temperature lock feature is impressive yet only holds the temperature reading for 5 seconds which I did not feel it was long enough. This is especially true when taking the temperature of any protein in the oven. This same button can be used to change from °F to °C by holding it for 3 seconds. It is compact and fits readily in any drawer or you can store on a metal surface with the 2 magnets located on the back. This is useful for outdoor cooking to keep on the side of the grill. This tool will simplify and improve various cooking methods in our home and it we will use often in our kitchen and patio! It is a must have tool for any cook to ensure safe internal temperature and great tasting foods. No more estimating!

I'm also one of those people who won't get rid of something unless I absolutely have to. Well, the old one finally gave in so we got this one and it's amazing! It reads the temperature quickly. The screen is very bright and legible, and my favorite feature is that the actual thermometer part (I don't know the real word lol) flips in or out for safety. And I have 2 toddlers who do their best to grab everything!

With the press of a button the prong pops out. It reads the temperature quickly and is easy to read on the thermometer. Gives me an accurate temp to tell me how done my meats are. Easy shut off or it shuts off automatically. The back has magnets so you can stick it on the oven, fridge or grill so its close by for easy use.
