This product came "recommended" by a family member, but I was skeptical at first. I found that Walmart had it in-stock locally, and I ordered it. My John Deere riding mower (L120 with 20hp Briggs) was only firing on one cylinder. I thought I needed extensive engine repair, but it turns out that I only needed Mechanic In A Bottle. It was easy to use because you just pour the bottle into your fuel tank. I now suspect that I had a clogged carburetor jet or stuck valve, but whatever it was, it's fixed now! I'll now be adding this to my fuel system regularly for preventive maintenance. WORTH EVERY PENNY!
Whatever magic is in this Mechanic in a Bottle stuff, it's kept our old mower going for years. Other additives don't seem to help. About a teaspoon of this stuff and it starts up without tons of pulling. I won't be without it and try to keep a spare bottle ready at all times.
I have just recently heard about this Mechanic in a bottle product. I have a lawn mower that was not running well would run very slow and eventually stop. Put MIb with some new gas in the tank, tried after about 4 hrs, , no better. The next day one rip on the cord and runs like new. Will always keep this product on my shelf.
I learned of this product while researching a way to fix my lawnmower. When I followed the simple directions for use in the gas, combined with a separate process that used a complimentary product to free up the cylinder, my frozen lawnmower came back to life! Whatever makes it renew the tubing in the fuel system definitely works, because the mower also stopped leaking gas!! Thank you Mechanic in a Bottle, you saved me money!!
My 45yo Stihl 028 chainsaw had been in the shed for several years unused and would not run. I put a healthy shot of this in the fuel tank and cranked it through with the choke on, flooding it thoroughly. Next day she fired right up and run great! Did this due to recommendation by Chickanic on Utube. She was impressed at how it works and she was right!
Used it on a craftsman mower, let it sit overnight. Topped with fresh gas in the morning. It fired up on the second pull. First start of the year is typically a little rough. This made it super easy, though. It never died once. Used my mower since and fires up first pull every time.
this needs to be go to for anybody doing any automotive stuff on small engines. you put this in let your engine run and it cleans out the carburetor. I'm very particular about my engines and do this proactively every fall for a treatment. found out about it through a friend when I had a very rough two-cycle rototiller. I put it in and let the rototiller run for 10 minutes and it just now sounds fantastic.
Complete snake oil. Took all the gas out of generator and put in the 4 0unces and left overnight. Took out the mechanic the next morning and put in fresh gas. The generator still surged, just as before. Finally took the carb off and cleaned out the clogged jets and it now runs perfect. This stuff is complete junk. Avoid and don't waste your money
Horrible... Used exactly as directed. Im a farmer, I 1000% know what Im doing and what the issue was with this small engine. This was a partially clogged carb jet. Engine was surging, possible bit of water in the bowl of carb. This did nothing, did the process twice, ran 2 full tanks through the mower over 3-4 days. Nothing. Then just took carb off, cleaned it, and the problem was 100% fixed. Giant waste of time and money... (prior to getting this as the last resort BEFORE taking carb off, I had ofc changed air filter, Fuel filter, fuel pump, and ran good premium gas through it. Moral of the story, this will do zero for a carburetor with minor problems. Proven...
will not purchase anything from Walmart online anymore they send you cheap crap from foreign countries and they can't seem to find your porch or front door do not deal with this evil greedy company
