MED5030MW 7.0 cu ft Front Load Electric Dryer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We purchased this dryer a month ago when our seventeen year-old Maytag dryer needed to be replaced. Our local provider was offer it it on sale and we wanted another Maytag. We like its simple operation, and the practicality of a dryer door which opens all the way which makes it easy for us to transfer clothes from washer to dryer.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Have had the dryer 5 weeks. So far it has been a very good choice. Large drum holds a full load from our large capacity washer. The old dryer did not. It dries faster on medium than the old dryer did on high. Am surprised at how quickly clothes are dry. Between those 2 things, even though not energy star rated, it seems to be quite a bit more efficient than the old dryer. Am pleased that there are still some manually operated knobs, even though the operation is electronic.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] i bought this dryer the beginning of the month and love it's efficiency compared to my much older Kenmore that lasted for many years. I find that even with bulkier loads, like blankets and towels, it only has to go through the cycle once to be completely dry. I'm not using up as much energy which is important for today's environmental concerns. It remains to be seen how many years I'll get out of this model...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This dryer replaced a Maytag 23 year old dryer. This new one works fine, but the old dryer had a better lint filter at the door opening, with a finer fabric mesh instead of the screen wire filter on the top of the new one. The fabric filter lasted 21 years before replacing. The screen wire is vulnerable to denting, and allows more lint to get into the dryer vent tube. Maytag/Whirlpool, you might want to revisit the filter design.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Drys well, but you need to slam the door to get it to close. Not sure if it is lined up correctly, but the store told me that you needed to slam the door so that the wet clothes wouldn't open the door if it was not tight. Never heard of this in all my years of having a dryer. Never had to slam the door with all my might to get a dryer door to close.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] They had to change the dryer door from opening right to open left. Thus, it has trouble closing tightly. the switch inside the door will not stay in the proper position and must be pushed by hand , then I must slam the dryer door. 2. As it works, it slides out of place on the new hardwood floor. I'll have to get someone to help me lift it enough to put rubber under at least the front "feet". 3. It dries well. I've not used all the features. I did watch the video and will try some other features next time.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far I'm satisfied with the dryer, the only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 . I'm not too thrilled with the door it's kinda hard to shut, you have to close it harder than I think you should. Also if I use my knee to push it close in the center of the door it gives, I worry I'll get a dent in the door cause it will pop real loud. So the only way around this is to make sure my hands are empty. I am older and I have to use both hands to close it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This new Maytag dryer replaced my old Maytag dryer whose heating unit and shut off devices had failed after many years. I love the new features and it does a beautiful job of keeping things from wrinkling without cooking them to death. If I have one complaint it's about the shape of the top. I can no longer fold items there because they slide off. My old one had a flat top I could stack a pile of folded clothes on. My room is small

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Why offer an end of cycle notice alerted if it can't be heard. One of the features I have always counted on with my dryer is the end of cycle notification. On this dryer it is a faint buzzer that I can't hear. The dryer is on my first floor and I am no more than 25 feet away from it and still don't hear anything. My old dryer buzzer I could hear upstairs from the basement and of course upstairs when we moved them up. I wish I could give it a 4 1/2 star because I like it other than the buzzer.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very nice dryer that functions well. Two annoying features: a door that seems light weight and sounds tinny, and a curved top that makes it impossible to leave things on top of the dryer while it's running- they end up on the floor!
