It took 1 day after I left the hospital to realize that I needed to find a more effective way to pump. I have the Medela freestyle pump and purchased the bustier so I could go "hands free" (I stick the small portable pump in my waistband or in between my breasts so I have both hands free). I bought another one so I always have a clean one available. My only regret is not finding this sooner and being able to use it in the hospital! I buy these for all my girlfriends having kids, regardless of if it's on their registry or not. I tell them all they will thank me and guess what, they end up loving it as well!!!
I would definitely recommend this bra over their older version. It is tighter on your chest and holds up the breast shield. The old bra let them hang loose and you would have to hold them once they starting filling up with milk. I can walk around the house while pumping and not have to worry about them sagging off of my chest. I pump while I am driving to and from work and it holds them tight my entire 30 minute ride. I am a 36/38 D right now and a medium fits well. It seems tight when you first put it on but it definitely makes for better milk expression.
Oh my gosh. Life as a pumping-mom is so much easier w/this bustier in it! This is my fifth baby and I've always hated taking time to pump b/c everything else had to stop so I could hold the stupid cups to my breast. So glad I finally tried this. Fit perfectly. No problems at all!
Sizes run small; I am a medium in everything, but a large in this bra. That said, I've been using it 0-4x/day for 3 months now, and it's starting to stretch out a bit and isn't as snug fitting. It is essential to hands-free pumping, and the best pumping bra I've found. There is a reinforcing vertical seam above the pump opening, and I wish there was one below as well. I get all my bras in nude because I want them to be inconspicuous. I should have gotten this one in black, however, because it's never actually worn under clothing and serves as a pseudo-top while pumping if someone walks in on you at work ;-). Overall, highly recommended!
This bra really helped me mentally. I was able to do other things... like look on my phone or read or fold laundry while I pumped! It's a must have. The only thing is..I got the biggest size and it was still really tight. I guess it has to be to hold the parts in place but I wonder if it contributed to my mastitis?
I thought I'd really like this new design, the material is nice, looks and feels modern, but the holes for the pump have been made smaller. Okay, so what's the big deal? Nothing really, except... that I find it takes me LONGER to set up to pump when i am working because I need to attach the cone separately to the bottle after inserting through the pumping bra. Previous designs allowed for the whole attachment to slip through the hole so you could complete assembling your pump parts, put on the bra, slip it in and get going. With this design, you must put the bra on, put the cones in place, attach the cones to the bottles, and then start. Similarly it requires more time when finishing your pumping session.
I received this item for free and its a great concept, but they don't make them large enough according to the scale. I ordered a large which according to the scale should have fit me. I'm normally a 44C, but when I received it it was so tight I couldn't wear it. These things need to be made for plus size women.
So being able to pump hands free is great, but I would definitely get a size up from whatever their size guide says. I followed the size guide, and the product is tight, making it difficult to put on, and it causes a little pinching at the bottom of my breasts and the flanges. So while it's easier and faster than single pumping, I have to consider the discomfort before doing so. Also the elastic loop that the hook fixes into to close the garment frayed and ripped (after only about a month of use), making it very difficult to put on. I finally ending up sewing it up myself so I can use it while I look for a replacement.
I received this for free when I bought a medela pump. I'm glad I didn't spend money on it bc it isn't as user friendly as an older model I bought two years ago. First, the size fits me comfortably but I am forever stretching the material just to get it zipped. The older model was supportive, thicker and just seemed better in terms of quality. It was soft but sturdy. The material on this one is thinner and snags easy when I'm massaging my breast. The one feature that is a pet peeve for me is the opening where the breast shields are inserted. The old one had a slit where you could insert from the wider opening of the breast shield. So you can keep everything intact as you put it on or took it off. This model is just a hole so you have to disconnect the shield from the valve. Pull the shield out from inside the bra and everything is just a mess. I highly recommend a hands free pumping bra and this brand...but not this particular style.
I bought this because I needed to be hands free and it was awful. I used it a few times and it did not hold the pump in place. Because it didn't hold the pump in place properly, my nipples were damaged and I was in SO much pain for 24 hours and couldn't use it again. Please... but a sports bra that fits you well and cut holes into it! Do NOT buy this!!!
