Major upgrade with some minor flaws. We have had a connect in our house since 2015 to help my parents who are hard of hearing listen to the TV without driving the rest of the household up the wall. Eventually we picked up a pair of MEE headsets as well because they seem to work the best with the transmitter. I think we were still using the original transmitter until last year (10 years!), but the headphones had suffered a series of failures and were replaced something like 3 or 4 times during the same period. When the new model came out and one of the old ones broke, we decided to upgrade. The headphone itself feels a lot more solid than the old version, and while we won't know for a fact if it's more durable until at least the 1-year mark, I feel a lot more confident with it being left on a couch where someone might sit on it. But actually this has been more rare because it seems like they enjoy using the charging pad - whereas before I would have to charge the headphones once a week, now more often then not I find them with the charging pad attached! Small wins but they add up! Now for the cons - the touch control is by far the biggest learning curve on the headphones, and proved insurmountable for my mother. I had to disable the touch control on her pair and then label them so they are no longer interchangeable. Dad seems to have gotten used to the touch panel, but it took a lot of work to get to this point. I can see this being a problem for a lot of elderly, in my opinion it should come disabled out of the box. The 3D audio, noise canceling, and other features are slightly wasted on my parents - they can't or won't use them since they are only listening at home, but I can see them being cool for younger users. Overall, it's a cool tech product for the 50+ demographic, maybe overkill for the 85+ but I'll take the improved build quality and easier charging!
Hopethese won't break! support agent recommended these as a replacement for my old model that fell apart after just a few years. told me they have improved the structure and fixed all the problems. they feel much stronger and work well but time will tell.
