MEGA Hot Wheels Mod Rod Building Set

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Mod Rod Hotwheels Mega set was great. The instructions were easy to follow with minimal parts that were challenging to put in place such as the side pipes. Be careful not to press the pieces together too closely or it won't attach to the engine properly. The design could be improved to make it fit more easily. It looks really great when done. He really liked that the images were printed on the blocks rather than stickers he had to get help with placing like other building sets in past. And he really liked the size of the build.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This thing is awesome! First off, this model has over 600 pieces. So this isn't something that can be done in 20-30 minutes unless you're a serious builder. With that said, it is an amazing builder's set that has some pretty cool details in it. The instructions are in a big book that are easy to understand. The pieces are easily distinguishable from each other and we (my 10 year old daughter and I) had no problem keeping them separate. The finished build looked almost exactly like what was on the box and it was easy to use that picture to make sure we were building it right as we got closer to the end. If you like building models, this is definitely one to pick up.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I gave this set to my 12 year old nephew who loves both cars and Lego's. He went home and immediately started assembly. This is a more complex set, so wouldn't recommend for new builders. He took several days to put it together. The results were so cool the working trunk, doors really make this car cool and interactive. It has been put on his wall of fame along with other beloved sets. I would recommend this set to any experienced builder and I think adults would love it too!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wow, what a FUN build!!! Mega and Hotwheels have done it again!!! We had such a blast piecing this beast together. Easy to follow instructions. The size and colorway makes this an instant hit on any collector's shelf. We absolutely loved how many different combinations we could change the Rod into. Weather it be retro with a hood or no hood, a convertible with a huge engine or coupe with a smaller engine simply equaled PERFECTION!!!! With a Huge nitro tank in the trunk this baby is ready!!!!

He spread out the building over 3 days, but totally could've built it in 1, since he really enjoyed the process. The finished car has a lot of detail, and it was really great that no stickers were needed! The graphics are already printed on the pieces, which was super nice because it's always hard to get those on perfectly straight and then they always tend to peel at the corners. The car has fun, movable parts like the doors, trunk and engine, and just looks very sharp and cool. I love the colors. The couple of things that my son pointed out that could be better were that he wished the pieces snapped together 100%. He showed me and it seemed to have a very small gap. Also, he said that the finished car is fragile, so be careful not to put any weight on it or it'll break apart. Overall, this is a really fun kit for older builders! We will display it in his room as decoration. :)

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Eight year old child had a bit difficulty understanding certain portions of the instruction in building the product. While visually the picture and description matched for the most part, when trying to add on to the next step of building, child had to re-read (several times) and involve an adult to decipher the instructions. Even the adult was confused and had to go back to the beginning to understand where the challenge was. Presentation of the product's box was sleek and functional where you can reuse the box and store the pieces inside as you are working through the build. Organization of each section of the pieces were in order as noted in manual. Outcome of the product is as described on the package and the mechanics of the product worked.

Son got this as a gift, glad I didn't pay for it because it's garbage. Missing pieces. Hard to connect pieces. Caused so much frustration. Cool details though.
