I'm a bit of a hot sauce fanatic, and my fridge door looks like a science experiment with all the different bottles. I usually stick to the standard vinegary stuff, but I needed something to kick up a boring batch of grilled chicken thighs I was making for tacos. That's why I grabbed this Melinda's Mango Habanero. First off, the pour is perfect. It's not watery, so it stays on your food instead of just running off the plate. The color is that bright, appetizing orange, and you can see tiny specs of the habanero in there. I tried a little dab on my finger, and the mango sweetness hits you right away—it actually tastes like real fruit preserves, not just sugar syrup. Then, about three seconds later, the heat creeps in. For the chicken, I used it as a finishing glaze, and it was fantastic. The sweetness caramelized slightly on the grill, and the heat cut through the richness of the meat. My wife, who has a medium spice tolerance, said it was "spicy but delicious," which is high praise. I've also been dousing my eggs and black beans in it all week. It's surprisingly versatile. My only minor gripe is that if you use a ton of it, the sweetness can slightly overpower the saltiness of savory dishes, so you have to find that right balance. I'm hoping the bottle lasts a while and the flavor stays this fresh, as I can see myself reaching for this one a lot more than the others.
This jelly tastes great and has a nice kick that isn't too hot. It's a little pricey but it's really good. It's great mixed with softened cream cheese as a dip for butter crackers. It's great on buttered toast as well.
Wonderful product, excellent taste, texture, balanced flavor and quality ingredients! So versatile in use desserts, breads, appetizers, salad dressing, and glazes.
Excellent sweet and hot jam. If you like hot jam this is the best I have tried! Mango habanero is my favorite. I have tried all of Melinda's hot jams and hot sauces, they are truly 🔥 and spicy for all levels of heat. The price is amazing for the very best products. If you like it hot you will love Melinda's.. This old veteran highly recommends. Happy h-eating!
Flavored with Mango, Habanero jelly... it says preserves but it is jelly like. It is sweet and spicey but not overly spicey, goes great mixed into cream cheese on a bagel or English muffin. The heat is slow to feel and could catch you off guard. Even though it says Habanero it isn't hotter then jalapeno jelly, Habanero has a very good flavor much better the a bell pepper and really doesn't take much Habanero to give a very nice flavor. I use another Habanero sauce for cooking (El Yucateco XXXtra Hot Habanero Sauce) and takes just a drop or three to add a lot of flavor to stews, taco meat and such. I wouldn't ever try eating a Habanero pepper on it's own (way way too spicey) but when mixed into a jelly or as a sauce with fruit it's very good.
We bought this Mango Habanero Pepper Jelly to serve with cream cheese and crackers on Thanksgiving. I am a spicy fan, like - a very spicy fan, and I thought it was absolutely delicious! But some of our guests could only put a teeny dab of the jelly with their cream cheese on their cracker, because it was too spicy for them. Even the people who thought it was too spicy agreed that it had delicious flavor though.
We love the melindas products that we've tried. This has whole fruit in it also, and they call it a ghost pepper cuz you get the heat a little after you eat it. I put it on breakfast sandwiches, cream cheese, meat, anything. For me its a perfect combo of fruity and spicy.
This is really good jam! If it's too spicy we just use Tillamook sharp white cheddar or cream cheese on a cracker or small nann pieces for entertaining. Also great with salami. I was scared to try the habanero as it's sometimes too spicy but this is just the right amount.
Would be perfect except it's just too hot! I didn't realize they were using hot chilies as I was hoping it was going to be Ortega Anaheim Chili's that are mild.
I love the taste of this jelly. But, I just had a second jar in a row with hair in it, lots of hair. I am so disappointed and completely disgusted!
