First, I'd recommend that you buy these in store rather than having them shipped because the box was crushed upon arrival. It was only shipped in a bag, so that's not terribly surprising, but it's disappointing for a box that is supposed to contain the puzzle long term and be reusable. The pieces are large, perfect for small children's hands. Each piece is about 6"x4", and there are 36 pieces making it a puzzle that's 34"x22.7". Each piece is made out of thick cardboard, so they're sturdy, but not wooden, so the corners can still bend and fray with some effort. The design is cute, and my kids love it! It's appropriately challenging for my 4 year old.

Melissa & Doug USA Map Giant Floor Puzzle is fun and educational. It comes with 42 large pieces that are bright and colorful. It is fun, easy to assemble and the pieces fit together easily. This giant map shows all 50 states and has a picture on each that relates to that state. It shows surrounding countries of Canada and Mexico. It also shows the Gulf of Mexico, Gulf of Alaska, Pacific Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, and the Great Lakes. I love that it has a compass so children can learn directions. It also has a legend that list all state capitals! My children really enjoy this Melissa & Doug USA Map Giant Floor Puzzle. They ask to put it together everyday. They love asking questions about the pictures, states, and oceans. There are several ways to learn with this puzzle and games you can come up with that are a good fit for your childs age. I like that this puzzle come with a box to store it in with a handle making it easy to transport. I think this is a great educational puzzle that is fun for kids of all ages that do not know the geography of the United States of America and state capitals.

I absolutely love and recommend the Melissa and Doug line! All the products are constructed really well, make wonderful gender neutral gifts and the bright colors really encourage tactile learning. My son loved playing with this puzzle over and over and naming all the animals in the farm picture. The puzzles are constructed so nicely and I can see them lasting a long time!

My 5 year old was pretty excited to complete this, which he did within probably 15 mins or so. He has another Melissa & Doug floor puzzle (solar system) that he has played with often. I wouldn't say this is super challenging but as a parent I like that the pieces are big & easy to find, and so it doesn't make a mess. We put it together on our coffee table. It comes with a cardboard box with a string handle for storage.

My three and four year old had a blast putting this together. We then spent at least 30 minutes talking about all of the pictures and states and where different places are. The puzzle is bright and eye catching and very well made. The size is awesome for younger kids to handle but still exciting for older ones to explore as well. Great puzzle!

This puzzle is perfect. The pieces are nice and sturdy and so is the box it came with. I have a 5 year old so that's a plus. Each state has a picture with what it's known for which I thought was cute. I LOVE that it lists the Capitals. This is a good learning tool for my son and also a good refresher for me!
