Great filling for deserts

BigGuy November 6, 2016

Solo is the most reliable brand for many specialty fillings, and their poppy seed is excellent for coffee cakes and such. You can't go wrong with Solo.

HappyBaker December 4, 2016

Solo fillings are wonderful in cakes and cookies and the Walmart price is better than that of other online stores.

Excellent product

Kosice February 18, 2015

It reminds me freshly ground and sweetened poppy seeds from my childhood from Europe. Which the product is. It is well balanced and perfect for strudels, pastries or with noodles (makos haluska in Hungary or makove rezance in Slovakia...Take your pick...)

Solo Poppy Seed Cake & Pastry Filling, 12.5 oz

KASIENKA January 22, 2014

The poppy seeds are soft and ready to use , all I need to add to the feeling is Almond flavor to make it to perfection especially if you are going to do polish poppy seed cake style like ( makowiec ) the filling is not dry and mixed with corn syrup , for my taste it is not to sweet , after baking the sweetness vanishing into the cake , unfortunately it is expensive , making your own filling would be much cheaper , but I had to try it out when it was a lot cheaper last week , I tried also use it for making poppy seed buns ( drożdżówka) , and it was delicious .. the best to use with all sort of yeast-cakes and yeast-sweet-bread , on the back on the label you will find 2 receipts for cookies and cake

Great for poppy desserts

opus17 May 4, 2014

If you want to make poppy streusel cake you have to grind ½ pound of poppy seeds, which releases the characteristic poppy taste. But it is messy and labour-intensive; this Poppy Filling beats grinding your own poppy seeds, but you have to account for the sweetness that is already contained in the filling by reducing your sugar. Wished this was available without corn syrup. But for the poppy fiend and baker this is a wonderful option.

Could they have made it any sweeter?

karieconsumer April 7, 2013

My spouse went to all the trouble to make nut rolls for Easter...they are an enormous amount of work. He had done three and needed more filling. I suggested he buy the Solo poppy seed. Bad idea! It was cloying, sickly sweet and the sugar overpowered the poppy seed. THEN looked at the ingredients...CORN SYRUP was the first listed. This used to be a wonderful product..now it is way too sweet and very expensive. So sad.
