Merkury Innovations Smart Dimmer Switch, Requires 2.4Ghz Wifi

This is the 2nd smart switch I purchased, the first one, no matter what I tried would not work. This one was like magic- as soon as I hooked it up, it was on and available. I will be purchasing more by this brand.

This is a great dimmer switch to add to a smart home collection. I have several smart home products that I use regularly including Wemo switches. I would recommend this brand over any other switches. It was relatively easy to install myself. I do have a pretty basic knowledge of electricity, so it was quick to install. You basically connect the same wires that were existing in the previous switch. 4 wires, gepundz neutral, power, and switch. If it doesn't work the first time around, just swap the power and switch wires around and you should be fine. Just make sure you have it switched off at the breaker box before attempting to do any wiring. This switch connected easily, I had no trouble at all connecting it to my router through the Geeni app. Once I got that going, I linked it up to the Alexa app that I use in my home, and it was good to go. Voice command, all I have to say is "Alexa, turn on the dining room lights" and it works great. You can also say "turn on the dining room lights to 50% or any level of dimming, and it works well. It stays connected to the router without any interruptions. I even unplugged the router and tested to see if it would automatically reconnect, and it did just fine. This is good if you have any power glitches or whatever, so that you don't need to worry about having to reconnect it if that happens. I've used it for a few weeks now with no issues at all. The price is definitely right as well. I've had issues with the Wemo brand when it tried to perform software updates on the switch. They basically didn't work for nearly a month while they were trying to figure out the glitches. I've had no issues at all with the Merkury brand. I'll definitely use this brand going forward as I keep adding more smart devices to my home. Highly recommend!

This light switch is not something that most people should install themselves. I recomend that you have this installed by a professional unless you know what you're doing. If you do install it yourself, be sure to not work with live wire. Flip the breaker, and verify that there is no power going to the circuit. I got it installed, and I love the way it looks. It's got a modern look to it. I had to download an app to control it with my phone, it was easy and straightforward. If you know your way around a smart phone, you should me fine.

I ordered the Merkury Innovations Merkury Dimmer Switch for the light switch in my living room that controls 4 recessed spot lights. The install directions were easy to read and easy to understand. Installation went quickly. I like the fact that it comes with it's own snap on faceplate. After installing the switch I followed the directions to download the Geeni app to my iPhone. It was easy to get it to connect to my wifi and even easier to start using it with my phone. I can turn the living room lights on from anywhere now! It's a great new switch for my home and I know it will be really handy in the Fall/Winter months when it gets dark before I get home from work.

I was unable to get this dimmer switch working. I was an electronics tech in my youth so I can handle a light switch. I have have probably installed 500+ switches, so obviously there was an issue with the switch. I really didn't want to deal with the troubleshooting back and forth (very basic to me) so they offered to just send out another. Very Cool!

Times are changing, I'm so happy with the dimmer switch. My son likes to sleep with his lights on. And every night I had to go back and turn the light off was a pain. But not I can do it from my room through my phone. I'm really very happy. My husband took time figuring out how to install it but once we did. It was worth the research and time. I will be installing these in all the rooms.

I'd imagine this to be a great product but per the instructions (after purchase) I learned it is only for 2-Way switch (one light=1 switch versus a light with more than one switch). I may have overlooked the information prior to buying but I learned something about switches!

I expected to install this product in about 10 minutes, and in hindsight if I had installed/replaced switches before and knew exactly what I was doing it probably would have been that simple. But because I did not it took me about 90 minutes of frustration, and numerous YouTube videos to supplement the information provided in the guide. Uninstalling my existing switch wasn't as easy as I had thought, and the instructions from Merkury did nothing to help. But I finally figured it all out. Once installed the switch and app are easy to use. However, although there is a slider in the app that let's you scale from 100% brightness down to 1% I found that at 1% my bulb is still about 50% bright. So the dimming capability is limited, which was very disappointing. Also, to use the voice functionality, which in concept seems nice, you have to open the Google Home app on your phone and by the time I do that and access the switch I may as well have walked over to the dimmer switch in the first place. I wanted a smart dimmer but don't feel this model exceeded, or even met, my expectations.

Very cheaply made. We weren't happy with its quality.
