I started wearing the Adventure Moc a couple years ago. They're the only comfortable, nice looking, rugged, waterproof shoe that starts out comfortable and stays that way throughout. They're made true to size, so my size 10 medium is a perfect fit. I've tried other similar brands and styles of footwear for hiking, but the Moab Adventure Moc are the only ones that don't rub my ankles raw, because they are cut to ride below the ankle, not on it. And, the liner forms nicely to the foot. I hike (that's old man talk for walking along the roadside, or along well-traveled tree lined paths) between five and six miles, pretty much every day, and I still haven't completely worn out a pair of these mics. I've worn these waterproof Mocs in every weather condition, from freezing cold northern New York winters, to road-tar-melting summers, and, if I can continue to hold up as well as these mocs, I'll keep wearing them. Buy ‘em, you'll be glad you did.
Perfect shoe for me: I have bought at least 12 pair. Will use them for all day every day use and I am pretty active and on the GO. its so quick to kick them on and off and not have old fashioned laces to tie, come undone or flopping around my shoe. Thanks again, Merrill!
Great shoes, the leather lasts so much longer than the synthetic uppers of the other models. Slip ons are the best, traction soles are good whether it be paved, dirt or rock. Best shoes I have ever owned!
The shoe is true to my size. Remains comfortable on my foot. If this matches your personal preference in a shoe, I think you will be satisfied.
I love these shoes. The Vibran sole is rugged and ideal for any walking situation. And I love that they slip on and off very comfortably.
My second pair. First pair lasted six years and I wear them about 300 days a year. Comfortable, rugged, not goofy looking like most slip-ons. Rocks, gravel, grass, saltwater, cement -- I never worry when I have these on.
The ones these are replacing were my go-everywheres for a decade and made it literally through a swamp and countless trails and casual rock climbs. Typically worn bare foot, as these will be. So far every bit as comfortable, sturdy and good-looking as my old pair. Only small gripe is the toe cap is smaller and looks like it could separate over time (like on sneakers).
Yes the heel on this shoe could be much stronger. I've had similar style Merrells that had stronger backs on them, so I was disappointed I couldn't slip in them as fast (or as careless) as I could with the other slip-ins. Also, these shoes were very tight on me, so I could have bought a half size larger and been fine. I ended up returning these and bought another style altogether. I love my Merrells, but these disappointed me a bit.
After having worn several pairs of the Shiver Moc 2 over the course of a few years I was disappointed to find they were no longer in production. I looked at these and figured they would be a good substitute for the Shiver Moc. Not so. They do not fit near as good, dont come up as high on the ankles, giving less support. They seem almost flimsy in comparison. I dont think they will last as long as the Shiver Mocs.
AVOID. AVIOD. AVOID I sent a lot of time looking for a good walking shoe.. these seemed to be it. BUT in less then 1 week of normal going to work, shopping etc. The seams started coming apart around the toes!?!?! They look horrible, now completely unprofessional and sloppy to wear them to work.
