Mesa Safe 14-Gun MBF5922C Fire Resistant Safe with Mechanical Dial Lock, Black

Outstanding welds. Perfect alignment. No warped metal. No play in cam lock system. Combination dial has no play and very smooth. Has 12 locking rods about 1 1/4" Dia. Massive. 528 lbs. Pre drilled for floor anchors that come with safe. Would like to have a key to reset combination. Mesa said I can get it by contacting Tech. support. A few extra clips for adding extra shelves would be nice. I would prefer shorter and less angled lock hand wheel "spokes" for close wall fit. Has outstanding paint job and detail. Looks very nice.

Received my safe this month. Had more features than advertised. Able to program two combinations, prewired with electric to add a dehumidifier, storage sleeve on the inside of the door. Very happy with the product.

Fantatic product and priced well within reason. The driver who delivered it was a terrific guy. The safe weighed 523 lbs and he helped me get it in the house with no problem. He refused to let me tip him. I called his office and told them how great he was.

Safe was exactly as ordered. Delivery truck called to schedule delivery, and arrived within time slot. Crew covered safe crate to deliver in the rain, and positioned in my study. They removed all packing material and were very professional. Safe seals well and has solid design. I opted for mechanical combination lock given all the problems with electronic locks. Dial is smooth and opens every time. I anchored the safe to my foundation with 4 bolts in about 30 minutes using hammer drill. For the price, a very competitive safe.

The safe was delivered by a very courteous and helpful trucking company. It was in excellent condition after opening the box. It holds all of my long guns (5) and their ammunition. Even though it is advertised as a "14 gun safe", it is more like an 8-gun safe unless all your guns are very narrow. Get a larger safe if you have more than 8 guns especially if several of them have bolt actions. The safe comes with adjustable shelves but I had to remove all but the top shelf (as shown in the adjacent photo) in order to get my guns in. The safe came with instructions to change the 2 combinations that it comes with from the factory. I was able to change one of them immediately but I couldn't get the 2nd one changed after several attempts. A couple of days later I was able to change it but I don't know why because I didn't do anything different than I did at first. I didn't give 5 stars for the quality because of a flaw in the fabric that covered the inside surface of the door. Evidently the holes for the screws that hold some parts of the door together are cut in the fabric before it is installed on the door. The fabric on the door of my safe was about 1/2" off when they punched the screw holes in it but it was no big deal so the fabric was moved to the correct location and a new set of holes were punched. Now the door in my safe has small holes in the fabric 1/2" below each screw. It certainly doesn't detract from the capability or appearance of the safe but was just a minor flaw.

The safe rocks. It's perfect for me. It weighs about 520 lbs but I was able to slide it around my garage with the help of a little sand under it. It locks top and bottom and has 5 x 1.5 inch bolts in the long side of the door. The inside shelves are fully adjustable and covered in a thin material to cushion whatever you put inside. At this price, it is head-and sholders over similarly priced lower grade systems which you can hack through with any reasonable can-opener in no time. The steel is very sturdy and heavy-weight enough to withstand a serious pounding. Delivery was quick but the freight line sent one 65 year old man to deliver it. When you get the call, make sure the dispatcher sends 2 burly able bodied men to deliver. My delivery guy wheeled the safe in on it's side and when he went to deadlift it to an upright position, I told him to stop because I did not want him to screw his back up. He called his dispatch and another driver came to help him with it.

This thing took four movers to get it up 10 stairs. It's heavier than you'd think for a 500 pounder. It's solid too...a huge step up from the Sentry brand safes that you see in the store. This is about as heavy as you can get before moving / delivering a safe starts to get very complicated and quite expensive. If I went for the 650 pound version, I might have run into issues.

Not the best safe in the world but for the money its not bad. Best feature is the weight, at over 520lbs. + guns and ammo, nobody is walking away with this thing bolted to the ground. The main con is the door gaps are to big.
