Metabo HPT 18V Framing Nailer Kit, 3-1/2-In, NR1890DCA

Best cordless framer on the market, just waiting on availability of the new reduction valve so they can be field recharged like the 1st gen. Of course I just saw a preview of the next gen, which seem like a complete overhaul and huge leap forward to make all these almost obsolete… guess I'll end up with all three generations

I am a retired builder. I wrestled with hoses on nailers for years. I used propane nailers when they came out and they stayed in the shop more than on the job. I have used a yellow battery nailer for several years and I got sick of nails jamming. This Metabo nailer came with excellent recommendations and it has been stellar every single strip of nails of various types and sizes. I couldn't be more pleased.

Great cordless framing nailer. I also have the previous generation of this model. The newer one is a little lighter and just as dependable. Sure, they're a little heavier than the pnuematic nailers, but even at 77 years old, I prefer the extra weight as a tradeoff for the convenience of not having to plug in a compressor and string lines all over just to do a small framing job. If I was doing production mode framing and sheathing all day, I'll hook up the compressor, but for the smaller framing and fix-it jobs, this is my go-to nailer. I haven't had a chance to compare it to a Milwaukee framing nailer, but I prefer this one to Dewalt's and Ridgid's, so far.

Used for framing houses. Building stairs in particular. Simply wonderful. A pleasure to use. Sinks 3 1/4, 2 1/2, and concrete spikes with ease. Two small issues: i) the magazine holds only one rack of 3 1/4 spikes and reloads are a constant bother, ii) the blinking light comes on frequently if you do not press fully down on the nose before pulling the trigger causing a delayed restart. Small issues that are more to do with user familiarity than design flaws. Hot tip: buy this nail gun and then buy it again. Note: do be more careful with this treasure than than you would be with the metal/alloy nail guns as it cannot sustain the same heavy blows/drops as those classic shooters.

I have been shopping for a cordless framing nailer for sometime. Had experience using other brands but pretty much all the cordless guns are heavy but the Metabo is a much improvement. Even a fellow carpenter who has a Milwaukee said the Metabo was much lighter and he preferred it. I have seen many other reviews which said they had no problem nailing into engineered lumber. Looking forwad to not having to lug a compressor & hose around. Will make my job easier and faster.

I used this Nail gun to build a shed for a customer, and it was terrific! It did jam on me a few times when the nails ran low… but it's an easy enough fix. I did the whole shed with one battery. I just bought their 36V Circular Saw and am excited to use it as well. I have a lot of Milwaukee tools, but I've been using Metabo tools lately and have come to enjoy their weight and smooth performance. Milwaukee may have them beat on torque, but Metabo got them beat on accuracy and weight.

Let me start by saying that I have 2 trucks loaded with Dewalt tools. When they developed the 20v lineup, I was all in! However over the years I realized their pneumatic guns and sawzall are cheaply made. I've replaced 7 pneumatic siding nailers and over 15 reciprocating saws. They are expensive but my batteries are all Dewalt so I just deal with replacing them on a fairly regular basis. Recently my Metabo NV65AH2 was stolen from my truck. I went online and bought a replacement which also came with a free impact gun and an extra 36v battery that took 2 months to arrive but it was worth it. I was very impressed with the quality of the impact gun and how it felt sturdy and comfortable in my hand. So as usual my Dewalt framing nailer broke. It lasted 3 months so I got more out of it than usual. So I see this Metabo framing nailer. It came with 2 36 volt batteries. My first day using it was so much fun. I felt like Thor yielding his hammer while everyone sat and watched me in awe! I was so excited to use this gun for the first time. It definitely did not disappoint me! It fits like a glove and has tons of power. I was blasting through hardwoods like butter. I've fired thousands of nails already and hasn't jammed once. This gun is a legit game changer for me. No cords, no jamming, and with a lifetime warranty, no more annual replacement worries. Here's a recap. 1. You feel like a Demi god when holding it. 2. Your crew will be jealous 3. Haters will finally shut up. 4. Customers will brag to their neighbors and that will generate new business! 5. You'll have to sign your signature from yellow and red guns from your new fans. 6. Your spouse will reward you more often in bed. 7. Your kids won't get bullied in school. 8. Your dog will win every race and place first in talent shows. 9. Your family pictures will be hung in 5 star Hotels. 10. The red and Yellow fan boys will hide their inferior tools when you walk on the jobsite. 11. Lastly you will be 6” taller after your first night of sleep. In all seriousness, this gun is awesome! It's the best purchase I've made in years. You will fall in love with the quality and the feeling you get when it's pulled from the bag.

This nail gun is a uite a bit lighter than the Milwaukee I have. I like the nice consistent nailed depth. One big downside is that you cannot do bumpfire and safety fire on the same setting. it's one or the other. Another downside is that when you get down to the end of your nails, it merely disables the plunger. The feel is the same as when you don't get the timing right between the trigger and the safety. So I find myself trying to shoot it again before I find out that I'm out of nails.

I love the Metabo HPT framing nail guns lineup. The best in industry in my opinion. This nailer feels a lot more ergonomical and lighter to its predecessor. I wish it came with a rubber non-marring nose pad. Also, safety glasses and a bag are added to the box but if they threw in some decent knee pads to that would be the best. I find that this gun performs well. And I am able to get into and toenail tight spots. A flashlight apparatus that had high and low beam if added would be very helpful, finding myself working in dark or low light visibility often. Any Metabo nail gun has worked wonders and has never let me down. I would like to see a magazine extension, a limit low noise on nails, can't say how many times I am lined up for a good fit and realize I am out of nails and have to re-align after reloading costing so much time. Can't say I have dropped this gun but some rubber shock guards would be nice as it will be on the floor or ground, just the way it is working. Overall, go out and buy yourself on of these and thank me later.

Excellent nail gun! I've not used a framing gun in years, and back when I did, the only real offering was a pneumatic Paslode. I've been amazed with not only the power of the 8090DCA, but its weight, ease of use, and also its battery life. I've been remodeling the master bath in my newly purchased home, and building the walls has been a dream. It drives nails with authority, adjusting the nail depth is a breeze, and operating in bump mode is down right fun! My next project is to rebuild my barn with all new walls, etc., and I'm genuinely excited about it because I know this gun is more than up for the task. Whether you're a DIY kinda guy, or a professional framer, this nailer is ready for whatever you may throw at it. Next purchase… The Metoba HPT finish nailer!
