Satisfaction continues

Jason T November 29, 2023

I've only used it a few times so far. The feel is typical for Metabo...very good. I have had zero issues with any of my Metabo/Hitachi tools.

Darn Good saw, durable, low vibration and fast

ajunco November 2, 2022

Let me start by saying, I have the 36v recip saw and I absolutely love it!! I have used Makita and Dewalt and the Metabo 36v is a beast. It is faster, smother, and just a great saw. With-that-said, you might wonder why I even indulged this 18-volt saw. Here is why, it is a darn good saw. As far as cut speed, it is just a little less powerful and a little slower (at least that how it seemed to me) than the 36v. It is smooth as silk, has very little felt/perceived vibration and will run on your existing 18v batteries, assuming you have not adapted the multi-volt system already (and if you have, it will work on that as well, win win!) Note: you cannot use the electrical AC multi-volt adapter on this saw, only on the 36v. Here is the other caveat: The price point. This is an all new saw and I do not know what the price point will be, but I am sure it will be cheaper than the 36v and definitely less than the competition (Milwaukie, Makita, Dewalt) , while giving you great performance. I cut through a 2x12 piece of treated lumbar in about 10 seconds (would have been faster if I had secured the wood piece better (It started to shack on me, slowing me down) and that was with minimal downward force, I just let the saw do its thing. I also used the supplied Metabo saw blade and it turned out to be a very good blade, making quick work of the wood. I also used the saw on a 4x4, a 2x4 and a piece of redwood decking. All were sliced and diced with minimal effort and dispatched quickly. The variable speed trigger is great, smooth, easy to hold in the position you want, not tiering on the finger. The ergonomics of the saw are good, nothing to write home (or in your review) about. The saw has both standard and orbiting blade settings. I found the orbital to be a bit weak, not providing much of a circular action, but since the regular stroke is so good, the orbital helps a little (specially on the redwood). The light on the front of the saw was just ok, not as bright as I like. I did not test the saw for runtime. I ran out of scrap wood to cut before the saw gave out and after about 25-30 cuts I still had 2 bars on a 3ah battery. Things I like about the saw: cut speed, vibration (or lack there-of), fit and finish, battery life, and durability. Things that could be better: You must use an Allen wrench to adjust the blade shoe (bit of a draw back if you have to cut to a specific depth). Wish I could use the AC adapter with it for the day of cutting long decking and not having to run batteries all day. In conclusion: For what I assume will be a reasonable price, this saw will beat anything else on the market, it is fast, responsive, durable and feels good in the hands, with minimal vibration and good ergonomics. It ain't light, but it ain't heavy either and you want some heft with your recip saw anyway. In an effort for full disclosure: Metabo was gracias enough to send me this saw to test and give a fair and unbiased review. Now with that said, I will admit, I am a bit bias since I do so love the Metabo 36v recip saw and am mentally comparing it to that saw and it holds up very well. About me: I am a consumer like you. I buy what I need and can afford and occasionally get what I could not afford but splurged on for the “quality” and let me tell you, the Metabo tools I have, I love. They are well built, offer a very good guarantee, and have proven to be very durable, reliable, and relatively inexpensive. I am not a construction guy who will burn through hours and hours of use on a tool every day, but every few weekends I get out there and help a friend, church, neighbor with their project and need tools that are durable, effective and efficient. I am not getting paid by the hour, so the faster I can get to the pizza and beer the better.

Love the set

Mack04 January 25, 2026

Overall I love this set. The case has held up well. Can be a bit of a pain to get the bits out but at least they don't fall out of the container when they are bouncing around the truck bed! Plus they look amazing with the triple hammer!

Great features for the price, gets the job done!

JGNhome2 August 28, 2023

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've used this saw the past few weekends and overall I'm very pleased with it. Background - I'm a hobby woodworker and I do a lot of pallet wood projects. This saw has been fantastic for breaking down pallets. Previously I was cutting pallets in half using my cordless circular saw to get them back home, and then breaking them down using a corded Milwaukee Super Sawzall. The old workhorse is more powerful, but it also weighs a lot more and the cord is always a hazard. Now I just break the pallets down where I find them and toss the planks in the back of the SUV. I can take a lot more wood this way which is another bonus. The specs on this are great with a 1 1/8" stroke length and 3000 strokes/minute for ultra fast cuts. The orbital mode is a great plus at this price point. The specs are as good or better than the cordless Milwaukee and DeWalt that both cost more, plus the lifetime warranty is better than what those brands are offering.

Bad case.

Farnham Contracting March 23, 2025

Terribly designed case. This is the first time I've ever returned something from Metabo. The inside plastic that holds the longer bits in was very bristle and broke almost immediately. And the holes that hold the smaller bits are so tight I needed pliers to get the bits out. I'm sure the driver bits are great but the case was a deal breaker.
