I was watching a YouTube video with a guy making his rounds to booths at the Ohio expo Mart tool show and one of the first stops was at Spyder, were they demonstrated their new 3 x 3 reciprocating saw blade. The blade was impressive because it has teeth on three sides and could cut backwards, but what I was more impressed with was the reciprocating saw they were using. It was green, so I suspected Metabo but after much research I verified it was the Metabo 36 V reciprocating saw. After watching it perform, I had to have it, and it's one the few Metabo battery tools that I don't have. When I got it, I put it to work in my horse barn cutting stall windows. It is silky smooth, the antivibration really works and I'm sure the orbital action helps also. It was an early Father's Day present.
Great tool powerful the best a contractor can have
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was surprised while using the new Metabo CR36DAQ4 on how efficient and strong it is. I was able to use it to cut a huge amount of wood for my fence, and after many hours of battery use, the battery had to be recharged, which I did. Then I used the power adapter cable, and wow, as if the tool came back to life, roaring and cutting into the wood like knife cutting in to a soft block of butter!! The amzaing control of the speed and power allowed me to have sharp and accurate cuts, the sound of the saw is very calm, the tool clutch is very each to use... I am so proud and very happy with my saw, Thank you Metabo. I will look for my next tools to be damage so I can replace them with Metabo.
You could cut your house in half with this saw, no joke. I use this in my line of work for mainly cutting unistrut and pipe but also for demo work. I was a Milwaukee fan boy for years but started having lots of tools fail and poor warranty repair done. I have started to replace most of my Milwaukee tools with Metabo HPT and couldn't be more impressed. The run time is great and so far the durability seems miles ahead.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This saw is an absolute beast. I've been surprised at how fast this saw will cut (with the appropriate quality blade) I've even been using it as a saw with a pruning blade. small trees up to around 3" no problem in oscillating mode. Having a 36v battery is a plus for my 18v hpt tools. Great saw.
I've had this saw for a couple of years, and in that time it has never come up short. While there are lighter and more compact saws out there this one has it's benefits. Like others in this class it has tool free blade changes. Above and beyond that the 36 Volt system provides as much power as a blade can take. It also let's you switch between standard reciprocating and orbital cutting, so you can make the best use of your blades. While it may be bulky and not lightweight, the vibration dampening system is fantastic. The dampening directs the power to the blade and not your hands, so you don't end up with numbness even after extended cutting jobs. Finally. the battery selection and option to use an AC adapter makes sure that you'll run out of material to be cut, daylight, or even blades before you have to quit.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This saw is a beast! I used it to cut through some posts when I was rebuilding my front porch. I was impressed. I feel like it was a very good buy!
Leaps and bounds above the competition, felt like a tank, four different settings, orbital mode works well. Definitely recommended, absolute powerhouse, it is a little heavy but worth it to accommodate the build quality.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this to replace a corded Dewalt saw that broke for the second time. It has plenty of power and much less vibration and kick back. Seems to cut a lot faster as well. It's quite big and it's annoying that Metabo HPT doesn't make a case or tool bag that fits it. Also, it's only available as a bare tool, so I had to buy the battery and charger separately. If it had of been available as a kit with a case I would have been much happier.
I've used this saw on demolition projects and it absolutely performs. It cuts through framing, nails, and mixed materials without hesitation. The power is exactly what you'd expect from a heavy duty tool. It is a little on the heavier side, but that's expected with the size especially considering you can also run it with the AC adapter for even more output. The rafter hook is a great addition and makes it easy to hang when moving around the job site.
