Makes accessing the platform in more elevated levels safer and easier, especially with more than one section stacked and safety rails installed.
The double decker baker's scaffold is great, but you can't use the upper guard rail many times if it is not at full height. This trap door platform lets the user climb up and through from inside the scaffold, with the guard rails fully installed. It is much safer and stable that way. Works great!
I bought two sets of scaffolding plus the railing and trapdoor platform because I had some DIY house projects. The first was to repair the soffit on the back of my 2 story house. The trapdoor platform made me feel more comfortable and safe rather than having to climb on the outside of the scaffold and over the top of the railing. The platform feels solid and overall I’m very happy with the entire scaffold set.
I purchased this product for its safety factor when working up on higher levels so we don't have to climb up to the upper platform on the outside of the scaffold. Thanks for making this product available to help keep us safe!
I purchased this platform to enable safer access to my second level of scaffolding, instead of climbing the outside I can climb the inside and go up thru the trap door and feel much more safe in doing so.
I don't know why they don't make these standard with the scaffolding, other than to make you buy these. These scaffold platforms with trap doors are indispensable for access to the upper decks without climbing outside the scaffold. These are a much safer option.
After a scary dismount along the outside of the scaffolding, following removal of the third tier safety rails (to dismantle), this became a necessary item! I agree with other reviewers that this should be standard issue with the 18' Metaltech three tier scaffolding.
These platforms should be provided with all of the multi level scaffold units. Seems so much safer than climbing the outside of the unit and if they were provided I wouldn't have to spend an additional $100 per level to purchase extra platforms that I don't need.
After getting a double stack of scaffolding I realized very quickly that getting on the top platform on the outside was going to be sketchy. Was happy to find these and they make the scafolding much safer. They should be default equipment on the second level at least.
I purchased the 3 tier Baker style scaffold system. It works great with a few modifications. All upper level platforms should have a trap door. I later purchased 2 trap door platforms separately. Platform with trap door was well made but far too heavy for me (senior female) to put in place while standing on upper levels. I had to remove the non-hatch side of plywood for installation and then clamp that section on during use. A lightweight aluminum option would be great. All other pieces of the Baker system scaffold are easily lifted. It was also necessary to use a 6 foot aluminum step ladder to easily climb through the hatch because you are facing the wrong direction if you climb the side bars. An adjustable height aluminum hatch ladder would be great. I am not a fan of the safety rails for the Baker style system. Although the pieces are lightweight, assembly while on an upper level is scary. A system with 4 upright bars, similar to that used with standard width scaffolding, would be more easily assembled.
