Yes, Pump Jacks work, but be careful. I would make the Stilts out of treated lumber rather than fir. Yes, they're heavy, but last longer and the weather doesn't affect them as much. I used two metal walkways for my platform to help keep the weight down. For the tool table I used two 2x10x10, but I will purchase two more metal platforms and use them instead just to reduce the weight. I use pulleys to pull the stilts up. Remember to be careful, because after you are up there walking around without a care in the world, you might forget you are off the ground. Good luck and enjoy putting your Pump Jack together.

Pump jacks came in a timely fashion. Same design as the three 1975 models standing next to them. Proven reliability and economy. Very satisfied.
