Just bought and am pleased with the convertible upright so far - only thing I did not like was that there were not enough shelfs provided and only two plastic drawers.
We have probably 8 of these in service and so far, it has only been about 2 years for the oldest we own, they haven't had any issues. The shelves could be beefier. Media has upgraded the shelves in the past year compared to the oldest ones we own. We use these only as fridges for glass bottled milk. It is understandable that they can't handle the weight, and the new shelves are much better than the old, but we still weld them all to make them stiffer. Overall, these fridges are excellent for the price. Unless you plan to put over 90#s per shelf, they should do well. As to the comments folks have about them not performing well outside. Most all of ours live outside and do fine. It is unfortunate the warranty doesn't cover it, but we have pretty extreme heat and cold and these boxes so far do very well in spite of both. They are also super efficient to run which is so nice given how much electric costs these days.
I really like that the shelves are adjustable and offer an ideal amount of space. The fast freeze option is great, especially if you are replacing an old freezer and hope to keep the contents from thawing. I really had no other option when purchasing this as it was the only one I could find that was in stock, but I'm glad I did. I am really happy with my purchase.
Second freezer I have ordered. First one only lasted a little over two years. Hopefully this one will last longer.
Purchased a 21 cu ft freezer/refrigerator combo. Clearly states GARAGE READY. Unit was delivered and refrigerator mode was not cold enough. Called Midea customer service and was told that the refrigerator setting was not garage ready so therefore not their problem. Their solution was to move it in the house! The absolute gall of this company. They refused any type of help at all. They said sorry. They DO NOT OFFER ADVERTISE the refrigerator portion is not garage nor do they care to help fix this problem. DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.
Bought a "garage ready"( that's a joke) freezer. They're not going to do anything for me because it was on my porch. Would not recommend buying from this company!!!
It's horrible. The shelves are so far apart, everything just falls all over the place and there is no way to adjust the weak shelving. I wish I wouldn't have bought it.
My dad bought this freezer 6 months ago to place on his carport. He worked diligently in his garden during summer to preserve many vegetables and caught fish to freeze and use during the winter months. Last week he went to get an item out of his freezer and it was not working. When he opened the door the light came on, but the unit was not cooling. He lost all of the products inside. When he called the company they asked several questions about where he placed his freezer, the receipt and store he bought it from. He provided all of the information. Then they told him they were not liable for the faulty freezer because he sat it was on his carport. The label on the freezer states Garage-ready and the website states that this model can withstand extreme temperatures ranging from 110°-0°F. The company provided a number for a repairman, but clearly stated the company would not pay for the repairs. He will definitely not ever buy another product from this company. Just be advised that they did not honor the claim that was made.
