We purchased this for our basement. Whenever I would open the door to go downstairs I would get a brief whiff of mildew! Once we set this up no more smell! We have had it set up to where we hooked a hose up to it so we don't have to empty it and we also have had it the other way. It shuts off automatically when it is full so there are no worries about over flow. We are very happy with this!
Excellent purchase. Last week I was so hot and sweaty. The heatwave of humidity was awe full here in Ohio. I decided that a "dehumidifier" was what I needed after purchasing and installing an Arctic King A/C in my bedroom that had a dehumidifier on it "dry" setting. I needed to make sure the rest of the house was cool on these upcoming August heatwaves so I ordered this dehumidifier. Let me tell you that by zapping the water from the air, your home can be so much cooler. I love this thing. Right now everything is off because I was too cold, I was shaking like a pair of drugstore dice. It took so much water out of the air today you would not believe it. I sure didn't. This is a moving portable A/C. Read your booklet once receiving. I love that I got this size 50 container which is about 6.25 pints. Arctic King makes the best affordable products. Well packaged, beautiful design, easy to operate, self explanatory and does the job right from the jump. The bucket takes a little getting use to putting it on the track but I align it then push from the back and it works for me. Has inside handle too. **Unplug during thunderstorms. Much larger than it looks, energy star rated and is a workhorse getting that "steam" of humidity out of the home. I'm a head sweater and no more bad hair days. Has rolling casters and like all machines a quiet noise on normal. A little more on turbo setting. Nothing I can't live with. Drain connector included if you need it, I don't. Just set it and forget it. Thanks Walmart!
Fantastic product. Works and functions as described. Pulls humidity very well. Relatively quiet similar to an oscillating fan on high. Digital readout lets you know humidity level. Purchase with confidence.
My older dehumidifier (only three years old) wasn't collecting any water in the basement when I started it back up this Spring. Ran continuously, but not a drop collected even after several days. The humidity reading was 68 even though I kept putting it on 55. It would just bounce right back up to 68. I was starting to smell the mustiness and mildew upstairs, so I took a chance on a different brand this time and about $30 more on the price tag. Worth. Every. Penny. I received it today and after only two hours, I had almost a full bucket. Dumped that out and had another half bucket of water in a few more hours. I have it set on Comfort mode which automatically controls room humidity in a range from 45 - 55 degrees according to the room temperature. The only issue (for me, at least) is that the bucket pulls out easily enough, but I have trouble reinserting it into the machine after I dump the water. The second reinsertion tonight was a bit easier, maybe I just need to get a "feel" for the bucket and the best angle to do it. A minor issue in my book. I'm very happy with my purchase.
Did a great job doing exactly as intended, however it's ONLY meant for basement use. Unless you have a huge room, I do not recommend for in an apartment. It does warm up the air in small spaces. Ran fairly quiet and worked excellent. Sadly my apartment is too small and warmed it up. Not a good idea in the dead of summer. Will highly recommend for other types of living spaces. Did come with the attachment for constant draining, did not use. Casters moved easily. Instructions were clear and straight forward, no remote on this model, but top console was clear. Cheers!
So far so good. Delivered very quickly, a day earlier than expected! Easy to set up and I love the fact that it can empty itself into my basement sink. Quiet, too.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My basement smells better after one day. It pulled so much water I was in awe. Super easy to install. Leave it alone and just come back to empty. You will be as amazed as I was by the amount of water collected.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This dehumidifier works well, it does what it claims. It was pretty easy to figure out the set up and the bucket is easy to dump out when it is full although I may end up attaching a hose.I do notice a big difference in the humidity of the area. I like that it is quiet when it runs and it is not a huge unit. This is a great quality machine.
This unit did a great job for the few months that it worked. Unfortunately, after just a few months the pump failed. I specifically purchased this model because of the pump. I'm currently working with customer service to see about a replacement but I'm not holding my breath. There is a model without a pump, so if that feature isn't important to you then this unit will be fine. It did keep my large basement nice and dry and took a lot of water out of the air in a short amount of time. My review is really based on the pump issue, so again - if that isn't important to you than this unit should be fine.
This dehumidifier works fine but the pump does nothing except puddle water all over the floor. I've tried everything I can think of but the pump does not work. It kicks on when reservoir is full then pours water on the floor. Their website claims: "The internal pump allows you to continuously drain water in an upward direction into a sink or out of a window for continuous operation and no need to empty the bucket." Well, it doesn't. Arctic King tech support was worthless. I bought this for the convenience of the pump and now have to empty the bucket 365 times a year. And now it's too late to return to Walmart.
