The unit is very responsive to cooling a large room and it is quiet in operation. Please note you will need two people to install the unit. Been using it approximately two days and the remote control is a big asset. This A/C is very responsive to the needs of cooling a large room quickly. It really looks nice in my window and gives me more window view than normal units.
This was a replacement unit due the recall Midea did. I waited quite a while for the gift card and it wasn't the full purchase price of the original AC. Was told I would get a check for the difference back in April/May. Nothing yet. This AC was a couple days late being delayed by shipper. Truck driver parked truck the wrong way on a one-way street to deliver—I've never seen this done before and he should've turned around instead of giving my the AC FIRST, and holding up two cars! After installing the unit I noticed the dent in it. This matches up with a corner of the box that looks smushed. I'm disabled and put this in myself, right before a heat wave. This could be the shipper's fault, or it could be Midea's fault…in any case I am the one facing a very uncomfortable situation. Walmart only allows 30 days for returns. It is a difficult item for me to need to repackage it and take it somewhere, in the middle of a heatwave. I've already trashed my old AC per Midea's instructions. Midea would have me box it up and take it to fedex or UPS. In all cases I would have to wait for someone to receive the unit, then issue me a refund or send me a unit, and this will be a minimum of 4 weeks being baked alive. I don't know what to do here. I LOVE THIS AC! The actual unit itself is the best window unit I, and my entire family and extended family have ever used, seen, or dreamt of. The replacement unit has been refreshed and now has Matter allowing me to integrate it into my HomeKit-ran home! Installation was also significantly easier, but the installation accessories feel as though the quality isn't what it was. There is no other reason to buy a different AC. I'm probably in the minority, where our units arive damaged. I wish I'd seen the damage before I installed it and threw out my old-old AC. But anyway, this is the best. It's quiet. Easy to set up. Control with HomeKit. The support frame convinced me no AC should ever be installed without one! I love Midea, I own a fan, too and would have seven more if I could! :-)
Best air conditioner we've ever owned. This is the second one we've purchased. We bought our first one last year and it's so quiet you couldn't even tell it was running. This year we purchased our second one for the same reason. It's QUIET. We can hear our tv without the volume turned up high. Our house is over 100 years old and large so we needed two to keep it cool. Best appliance design ever and the the best purchase we've made all year. You won't regret getting one.
okay, geez, i hate saying this, but i ordered the wrong unit...my window slides left to right not up and down, so it was a little tricky so i had some plexiglass and installed it...but it worked 😀 pain but hey it worked...this airconditioner is wonderful and talk about quite so far just put it in...you can barley here it outside also...i have never had one so quite absolutely love it and very cold i live in AZ and it getting warm...but im a happy women! 😀
This is next level window ac unit. Installation is extremely easy and seals every gap without going to get more striping, (comes with everything). Very impressed and might order another.
I haven't had this unit in the hot days of summer yet, but the tests I've done so far seem like it will do well as far as cooling. Although the installation instructions are for newer windows. My windows are older, and you must be inventive to seal the unit to stop the air leaks. Even with the problems with stopping the air leaks, I would certainly recommend this AC to anyone who needs a window unit.
My room is 188 ft.². It was recommended that I get a 5000 perhaps a 6000 BTU window unit after more research finding out that because the sun hit so directly on this side of the house and living in Jacksonville Florida with the heat that I upgrade the BTUs to an 8000 which I did. Come to find out that obviously is not enough because as you can see from the picture, I have to sit directly in front of the AC in order to fill the coldness of this particular AC the thins that direct the air to left or right are absolute trash and don't work at all. You sit in front of the fan you can fill it and it feels cold and great you move your hand directly to the left 4 inches and you cannot feel any cool air at all. I wonder if I should not have upgraded to a 12,000 BTU. Anyhow, either way this particular AC unit should have fins that actually work and direct the flow of the air left or right. You can see that I have a box fan as to blow the air in particular direction in order for me to fill it on the other side of the room, which I should not have to do it does blow out cold, but like I said, it does not cool off the room when I sit in my recliner, you can feel a big difference in temperature from where I'm sitting compared to the temperature if I move over directly in front of the AC. Now I can fill the air walking backwards to about 11 feet however, even with a room that is completely sealed the vents with saran wrap brand new carpet with extra thick padding this room is completely sealed and it would make you wonder why the rest of the room is not as cool as what you feel when you are standing in front of the AC 11 feet away. Why doesn't it feel that way 2 feet over or 4 feet or 6 feet. Like I said this is only 188 ft.² where the 8000 BTU air conditioner. Even with lousy nonworking fins it should coolest entire room off with no problem! The installation get this I paid $100 extra for a professional install and come to find out Walmart uses Angie's list where they send out people that they hope or qualified. I got an individual who flat out told me he had never installed one of these units before and I saw him using what look like grommets level the inside of the AC unit. He was faking his way all the way through the installation. Come to find out these seven grommets that he told me was actually for a different model, where actually drain plugs for the air-conditioning unit which controlled humidity the pool of the water which helps splash water on the coils to help cool the coils and help with the efficiency if they see unit. He was ready to have me throw these away. You wanna talk about a professional install for $100, really? Not impressed! I only found out what these were through reading the instructions myself which I should not have had to have done considering I paid $100 to have a professional install this unit not fake his way through. Anyhow, after he left, I made sure the unit was level and securely with the BTUs
Arrived damaged. Only option given was to return the ac directly to a Walmart store, which I couldn't do from NYC. The dents caused a break in the metal finish so I'm sure it will rust.
I was shipped a faulty unit, and both Walmart and Midea are refusing to be of any assistance. Walmart is insistent that I return the item to the store despite me letting them know that I can't physically lift the item. Midea essentially said "since you bought it from Walmart, we can't help you." The fan was stuck to another piece of the AC unit. I was able to get it unstuck, but I don't trust running an appliance that for some reason melted together. Seems like it would probably lead to further issues down the road. I was hoping to be sent a replacement unit as I've read so many good things about this one. Now I'm going to have to pay someone to take this large piece of garbage back to the store for me so I can get a refund. Lesson learned. Don't purchase appliances or electronics through Walmart and expect quality customer service. I'm sure this ac unit lives up to the hype, but I wouldn't purchase it through Walmart as the manufacturer won't be of any assistance with that purchase.
The unit was just delivered. The box has been opened and retaped shut. I hope I wasn't sold a returned product, as I paid for new/unused not refurbished. I will let you know how it works after it is installed tomorrow.
