This is the sixth Midea U-shaped inverter A/C that I've bought and installed in two houses. With the exception of the first one that had condensate drain issues ( which Midea has since resolved) the units have been excellent. Quiet, powerful and efficient with electricity. I definitely recommend them!
Over the past 20 years I have purchased window units, mini-splits, and wall units. These Midea U-shaped units are as efficient and quiet as mini-splits, and cost similar to window units. Two of them cool half of my main wing (6 rooms including the bathroom). I wish the came in a narrower width because I could replace a portable unit (less efficient) with something quieter and way better.
It is ideal for my NYC apartment. It allows for light on either side, has the motor mechanism outside, is virtually silent, and has a remote. Mine is an 8,000 BTU unit and am 100% satisfied.
Bought this about a month ago to replace a very loud A/C. It is definitely quiet and I hardly hear it. The install wasn't bad and the more-closed window definitely reduces outside noise. However, it doesn't keep the room that cold. I keep it at lowest possible temp and max power mode and it gets the room down to about 70 degrees even when its not that hot outside. Disappointed.
My aunt has one, and I couldn't even tell when it was on and I was sitting 3 feet away, they're so quiet. I now have 3 and have suggested them to friends. Pretty easy to install, and regardless of the technical sq footage, they cool rooms quickly and faster than any other brand.
it is a very quiet unit 90% of the time make some little soft noises every once awhile but you can still hear your TV and you can talk on the telephone without leaving the room the cooling power is very good just a little problem with the thermostat if the outside temperature is about 60 degrees and the inside temperature about 74 degrees you may have to just the unit control panel to get the unit to come on lower the temperature are going to a different cooling mode setting it's been in operation for 8 days everything is going good been through a rainstorm for the last 3 days no water came through the window I took it out a extended warranty cuz this is a DC inverter this is new technology has been out on the market for at least 10 years or longer to the United States other form countries has switch to this technology about 20 years ago it is still very new in the United States what I mean and other countries their marketplaces you will see more DC inverter air conditioners in their stores then standard air conditioners
AC was terrific for 3 months. Barely heard it running. Like heaven. Then it started making a little noise but still nice and cold. In last two nights it started making a noise so loud I had to turn it off. Fortunately, good timing as an Arctic Blast is coming. About to find out how Midea warranty works for a 5 month old unit.
This is the second Midea U-shaped window AC I've bought, and it's a quiet, effective unit with a decent, safe installation system. I'm a small person and able to handle the installation alone, though it was nice to have someone stronger lift the unit into my window. I have three criticisms 1) The foam system isn't very clean looking (few window ACs are any good at this) 2) One of the wedges that is meant to optionally block the window from opening doesn't fold in the whole way and it's extremely difficult to open the window because of this. I assume this is a quality control error but I don't know. 3) The AC BARELY fits in my window, due to anti-tip arms that are extended near the end of installation. My window has a sort of handle to make it easier to open and shut, and to clear this handle (which I don't think is an unusual window feature), the AC must be positioned so far forward that the anti-tip arms barely fit in the window frame channel.
I am so happy with my purchase! Delivery happened on time and while other retailers were sold out. As others have described, getting this into the window takes more work than other traditional units BUT its worth it. Its so quiet that I have to be next to it to know if its on or not. I dont have to turn it off for my Zoom calls! Integration with my Amazon smart home devices is excellent. The premium price is totally worth it!
Excellent A/C Unit. Super quiet. Be patient on the install and follow instructions, don't rush it. The window I installed it in was too close to roof to use the included drop down exterior wall brackets so I improvised and used EVA Foam Yoga Bricks (3 of them stacked/$7.48 each) from Walmart's fitness section to help support and level it properly. Worked great. Seriously considering buying another.
