Very nice, light and easy to install!!! Excellent Value, All the features you need, perfect for a Jeep Wrangler. The weather scan is cyrstal clear with no additional speaker. I paired mine with a Firestik antenna and tuned it in....Perfect...I highly recommend it!
If you have limited space and want a basic CB with Weather capability then this is the rig for you. It is the smallest radio I could find with weather capability and was just small enough to fit the space I had. Great radio for the price. If you need more than a basic radio then you will have to get something larger than this package. I have other CB's with more features and several Ham Radios with all kinds of features. This radio does what it does just as well as anything else using just the features of this radio. If you want or need any other features you will have to find a larger radio. I installed this radio in a motor home and mostly use it to listen to traffic reports while traveling and will seldom use it to talk to anyone else. My motor home does not provide a good ground plane for the CB antenna and therefore has a high (8-9) SWR on transmit. This would could cause serious problems for any radio and is not a short fall of this radio, just the vehicle I have it installed in. Most motor homes have this problem due to the fiberglass (non metal) body.
I finally got around to installing it, it was really simple and it works great, I just need to get it tuned and I'll be set, Midland makes some great products.
I recently installed the Midland CB in my late model GMC Sierra pickup. It wouldn't quite fit in any of the dashboard storage bins, so I mounted it under the dash. The CB works fine, and the weather channel is the main reason I bought this particular CB. There are two things that bug me: First, the On/Off Volume control knob is very close to the microphone plug which makes using the knob a little difficult. Second, the Weather Scan will start looking for a channel when you lose the signal, like when you drive under an elevated road way or anything that blocks the NOAA signal for a few seconds. None of things are really bothersome! I like the radio.
This CB radio is very nice and compact, the weather radio feature is why I purchased this model. It has a great speaker for its size, solid feeling mic, easy to use controls. My only gripe is the display, it is very easy to read and clear in sunlight. However when you wipe the unit off or touch the display it shadows and takes a few seconds to clear up. They should have used a thicker plastic. Not that I touch the display or wipe it off often, but still it cought my attention.
Wanted something with a weather channel that was compact to put under front seat of wifes car in case she needed in emergency and her 2 smart phones failed or she needed a weather report in winter. Needed a handheld or compact unit as not to have to mar interior of cadillac with permanent install. Tried the Midland handheld 75-822 due to it's size and weather channels, that product was awful, would not keep power on through power cord (on and off constantly, problem in power cord,, connecting to 12 v outlet would not keep contact, plug would not fit tight, terrible sound quality without ANL or gain. returned it to walmart and ordered this Midland, world of difference. This unit a little larger and not a handheld but seems to have plenty of gain and power connections are no problem and it does not hurt your ears like the 75-822. Paired with a Little Will (Wilson ) magnetic mount antenna , I have set the SWR to under 1:5 on the important channels my wife would need to use, 19 and 9. All set up and she just needs to roll down the window, pull the antenna out of the back seat floor area (Cadlillac DHS so yes it has plenty of room back there) stick antenna on roof, pull CB out from tray under front seat and turn power knob on. Already set to 19 with squelch, ANL, gain adjusted pretty much for her. So compact that she can use it on her lap with no problem if she has to. I have a full featured top of line 15 year old Rad Shack CB with all the bells & whistles with low SWR, so no the Midland is not as good but will give the basics and get signal out when needed. I have been utilizing CB's as a part of many miles and hours of travel over 30 years and this Midland hangs right in there for it's purpose. This unit for the price with a good antenna and you won't be sorry.
Big performance in a little package. My last CB got stolen & I like this one bc I was able to velcro it to the dashboard & take in & out as needed
Good radio, I was hoping Midland would be a better quality. But it feels and sounds cheap made. The Speaker sounds muffled and the radio body flimsy. Also the weather scan is not the best in my opinion. I would like to be able to set my local station then scan when traveling. I will keep it as a backup or a gift for someone looking to start the hobby. Too much of a pain to return.
This is a basic CB with of quality. The size is great, the weather radio is nice, and it is priced affordable. However, it does not seem to have the channel sensitivity that one might want and the speaker is not of great quality. Good for use when in a caravan in sparsely populated areas. Not so good in high population, high noise, areas.
I can't really review this product because the one I received did not work right out of the box and I promptly returned it for a refund and bought another brand in the store.
