the size and quantity of the product and performance.
The Midland ER40 works as expected. Very simple controls. Light works great. Multiple way to charge the battery. The NOAA alarm works as expected... I had it set to monitor and when they did a Test the unit alarmed as expected!!!
Midland has always been a great product. I'm happy Walmart had it and shipping was fast and easy
I like that it is compact %26 works well..
Love it! Does everything it's supposed to do.
Easy to use. Charges my phone. Clear radio and weather band receptions. The solar charger works well, even in low light. Excellent item for the lake, ball field, etc.. Highly recommend for the outdoor enthusiast.
Digital tuner. AM,FM and NWS.
I previously owned a stand-alone Midland weather alert radio and it lasted a long time. However, I was reluctant to buy this radio because of the very mixed reviews. But, I have had it for almost a month now and would give it 5 stars but for the very poor quality of the sound on the FM radio band. It must be a poor tuner circuit, because the AM band is not too bad and the WX band comes in loud and clear. Despite the experience of other reviewers, I have used this radio extensively and even left the WX-alert active for over 48 hours and the battery still had plenty of charge. I have set the radio in bright sunshine to test the solar charging function. It would probably take days to fully charge the battery, so I would not count on solar charging in a weather emergency situation. Likewise for the crank charging. I have not tried to use the radio to charge my phone, but given the extended radio playing time, I am confident that I could get a least a couple of cell-phone calls from the radio battery if I needed to use a low-battery cellphone in an emergency. Lastly, I very much like that the rechargeable battery in this radio is replaceable. Too many rechargeable electronics have to be thrown away today because the rechargeable batteries eventually will not recharge and cannot be replaced.
I bought it to replace another Midland that I loved but the battery would no longer hold a charge, I'd had it so long and use it constantly. This one is almost the same, except the display that tells you how much power you have left is faulty. It displays 2 out of 3, then runs out. It lasts a long time -- it just doesn't display correctly. Also when I plug it in, it says it's full when it's not. Just keep it in until when you unplug, it's at 3.
This Is my second Midland NOAA , Solar/Crank Radio What I liked better on the previous one was a re,d charge led vs the " lcd Battery Symbo alone.. Ialways l seemed a better way to view charging on Ssolar as you can see the Red led LED from a great distance.. The other frustrating thing is the recommended Midland Branded 18650 Battery isoinly held by "spring pressure and The Radio often gets jostled and “"has to be reset “ the time and Station's very often Do something about those shortcomings.. Maybein the future ad a backup-battery like a 2032 Button Cell to "save settings for wshenever the 18650 gets changed out, or when The Radio gets jostled, just turn it back on no time settings and weather stations Will Be Saved
