Excellent product and service
Excellent murder mysteries! This is a set of more than one seasons.
Always followed Midsomer Murders whenever it was on TV and am sorry to see John Nettles leave the show.I have several of the CDs of older shows and watch them over and over. I will probably buy at least one of the newer shows to see if I like it as much as the original ones.
I really enjoy being able to watch the episodes in order which makes it easy to see the character and relationship growth. Tom Barnaby is a classic. I don't know if I'll be able to stay with the series now that he's gone so I needed to complete the set of HIS adventures for re-watching.
I have loved every episode of Midsomer Murders and in this series I got to meet John Barnaby, Tom Barnabys' cousin. I know that I am going to like him. I love seeing the beautiful English Country houses and the scenery and in this episode I got to see the Bandstand in Eastbourne where we lived when I was a child during the war. I visited in 2005 and was there for a concert celebrating the 60th anniversary of the end of WWII. I live in California now, but I have never forgotten my English roots and watching Midsomer Murders is nostalgia for me. I live for my British Mysteries and Acorn has the best selection.
Many nights there is nothing on American television worth watching. The so-called "reality" programs are just silly, scripted come-ons, and the plots of most popular series programs are--quite simply put--preposterous. The best tv on tv is usually on PBS stations, which is how we began our fixation with Midsomer Murders. To be engaging a series has to have a good, tight plot and the solid interaction of the ensemble of characters is elemental. In Midsomer the main characters play off each other well and draw the viewer into the plot. Tom Barnaby, and now John Barnaby--and their families and associates, do a marvelous job of engaging our brains to ferret out the facts, clue by clue, to reveal the killer(s) in each episode. The English countryside and the quaint villages of Midsomer County are delightful. There's an "old world" quality to the backdrop that makes one want to visit that part of the world. Imagine--thatched roofs and quaint pubs! It's just great entertainment! With this last purchase, we have ALL of the episodes in the Midsomer Murders lineup. This show is superb--never disappointing. For those who enjoy WWII stories, try Foyle's War (our all-time favorite offering from BBC). We also own and love all of the Poirot DVDs.
I have the entire series of the Midsomer Murders. Class `A` entertainment in my book! Better then anything made here in the U.S.A. since Ellery Queen.
We are really enjoying the Midsomer Murders and we watch them instead of what's on TV as TV is quite disappointing with what they call entertainment. I've passed the DVDs onto my friend and she, too, is thrilled with them.
Acorn has great customer service and all the english shows on DVD that we enjoy watching. I am waiting to see how the trial membership in there VIPINSIDER will work with getting the free shipping and 10% off orders works before staying in It.
This is a new series for us and we have really enjoyed getting to know the regular characters of the series. We plan to order more in the future.
