Very sturdy and thick coated wire. my only issue is I thought it was longer and wider. The one I got could fit into a medium or large size cage kennel and cover the whole bottom. i needed one to fit if not all the way at least most of the way across in an xtra large kennel for a Great Dane. It would seem I paid a lot for a smaller one. Not sure if the price is worth it
