Just used it today for the first time and it worked great. Our dock is on a river with a lot of grass and we had been previously been using a garden rake which was very time consuming. The AWE worked great and removed large clumps of grass in one swipe cutting our time to just a few minutes instead of hours. If you are clearing grass from an area it is the only way to go. I did remove the push locks on the piece that joins the two poles together and installed stainless bolts just to make sure I don't loose a pole while using it.
Great value. It does a very good job.
Rake does what it's designed for mostly. The tines need to be about an inch longer. Also, in order to attatch the rope, the instructions state to install the eye bolt, and remove it when you use the handle extension. What you really need to do, is drill another 3/16 hole 6" from the top, and install the eye bolt permanetly. I've used mine for days using that method and it works perfectly. Lake weeds, Cuts well ,good reach, difficulty removing cut weeds
Good quality. Nice long handle. Light weight. Although very sharp, it tends to pull weeds rather than cut them. However, it still does the job.
It was not clear to me in putting the rake together whether the blade should be floating loosely near the bar or tight against it. I couldn't tighten the screw and nut enough to be set against the bar so there is some movement of the blade in the water. I was concerned about losing a nut in the water besides myself. Anyway, in using the rake I found some of the weeds around my dock to be more of the floating type than attached to the bottom. I did remove the floating type of weeds with this rake although it probably wasn't the intended use. I was also able to remove some weeds on the bottom near the dock and the rake is effective. I will continue to use it until the area is clear. Some of the problem I have is that the weeds now growing in the water are from the shoreline and apparently grass weeds. I did remove many weeds on the bottom and the rake gives you quite a work out dragging it back and forth and lifting the weeds out of the water.
I have a small pond with some cattails in it and this rake does not work well. It bent and did not do what I expected it to do. I would not waste any money on this, I ended up taking it back.
