I appreciate the ability to add serving pieces to my collection. I found the bowls to be very useful sizes. Even though several are small, I find on a day-to-day basis, the smaller ones get used more. I am delighted with the set.
Been using Mikasa for over 30 years and wouldn't consider any other brand
Beautiful set. Very versatile to use with many different table settings.
This set of bowls is as pictured: quite thick. They don't look like they are as finely made as the place setting dishes. Perhaps a different material? Still, they are pretty, serviceable, and a great value. Big enough for serving food, sauces & dips, but not large enough for a big crowd. For example, I suspect the largest bowl would hold enough mashed potatoes for maybe 6-8 servings. Very serviceable, and pretty when not in use sitting in a stack on shelf.
Great bowls, substantial weight. 3 stars because rim of the bottom of the bowl (underside) has a rough finish - no glaze. When nested, the rough bottom rim touches the inside finish of the bowl it nexts in. I am guessing that over time, the insides of these nesting bowls will be quite scratched.
These arrived with one badly broken bowl. Mikasa was very easy to work with and my replacement is on the way with almost no inconvenience to me. 2 emails and a photo. While I'd rather them have been in good shape, Mikasa's customer service is exceptional.
I love the pattern and design of the bowls, but they are defective. The glazing was done improperly and every time they get wet on the bottom, they absorb the water, which soaks in 1-3 inches up the sides of each bowl and discolors it. It turns a slightly pinkish color. I have a whole set of Mikasa Countryside dishes and none of them has the same problem. I have taken pictures (top and bottom) of one of the bowls when it is wet, and I plan to call customer service and arrange to have them returned.
I bought these a few months ago, one was broke when I opened the box, one broke in the dish washer and Im afraid to touch the other ones. The quality on these bowls are not the same as the rest of the products in this line. Do not waste your money.
Sad to say, very disappointed. Lightweight, several blemishes in the glaze, lovely pattern around the permieter is muddled and indistinct. I first purchased Italian Countryside dinnerware 20-ish years ago. This bowl set is not the same quality - made in China. I will be returning them and won't risk purchasing any further additions to my collection.
Very Poor quality. Does not match the Italian countryside pattern. Came with divots, marks, scratches. Used it in the microwave one warped and turned a grayish color.
